The Ibis was so venerated in ancient Eygpt that they were even mummified and placed in royal tombs. I think there is a reason.
If you are trying to grow crops in a river bottom, in a warm climate, you will be plagued with grubs and bugs and other pests, all trying to eat your veggies. The Ibis is eager to help, they love to eat the pests.
Egypt owes a major debt to the Ibis clan.

The reflections are beautiful!
The Ibis was sacred to the god Thoth, the Egyptian god of knowledge, who was a man with an ibis head.

Wonderful pictures, beautiful birds.
It is sad that the ancients wanted to worship God's creations rather than The One who masterfully and wonderfully made them.
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Ooooh, nice timing. We're just wrapping up our study of Ancient Egypt and heading to the exhibit in Little Rock in a few weeks.

One morning I entered a swampy grove on the northern end of Cumberland Island, and the place erupted as what seemed like hundreds and hundreds of ibis fled their roosts.
It is a vivid memory, one of the clearest, after many days on back country trails
