Oh, my! I'm afraid I wouldn't wear that dress, either. Maybe the hat - but not that hairnet thingie! LOL

That post is way too cute, Amy! It's funny though; while there are a lot of "suthun" traits in Texas wimmen, 'fixin' is really the only one out of that list that I think I've ever heard anyone here say.

'Course any 'list' of people from any particular region or state is always greatly exaggerated! :)

“Fixin” is about the only one I related to, also.

Well, I do see friendships started in the long lines at
the grocery stores! LOL!

Funny, but I 'started' to mention that one, too, luv. (talking to someone while standing in line). I will admit I've worked hard not to say: "I'm fixin' to go somewhere or do something" though. I will 'fix' dinner or lunch, or 'fix' as in repair, but I ain't fixin' to do nuthin else! LOL

I try, too, not to say “fixin’”..but when I DON’T think of it, that’s when I so it! It is engrained in a Texan I think!

If I dropped “fixin” I couldn't finish a thought. I've heard most of the things listed...and understand the conceps. My part of TX was settled by people who came here from the Deep South so that might explain it.

I have a TX drawl, too. I can get 2 syllables out of a lot of 1 syllable words. LOL!

Sometimes I start to say something and before I get finished ---I'm bored with it!

True story---

Years ago a local receptionist who talks even slower than me, answered the phone, "Southwestern Settlement and Development Corporation, can I hep ya?"

The caller from NYC said, "You could have but I've forgotten why I called."

When I am around someone who talks fast, I have an awful
time understanding them! LOL!

I was in a business in Glouster, MA, and the person trying to “hep” me couldn’t understand what I was saying and I certainly didn’t understand what she was saying...and we both were “reportedly” speaking English! LOL!

Yes....there is a language barrier from the South to the North, for sure!

No, fall hasn't quite arrived - but will be in full color within the next week or so!
The nights are very cool (50's) and the air is crisp and cool - especially in the morning!
