Vanity: Something I saw recently on The History Channel alarmed me...
Self ^

Posted on 09/30/2009 3:54:29 PM PDT by SilvieWaldorfMD

First of all, I am not much of a TV watcher of shows having to do with past blowhard philosophers and such, but my son is learning about planets at school now and we decided to watch The History Channel one night, just for the heck of it.

So, I was watching a program there about a week ago referring to Nostradamus' ('Nostra' for short) predictions, followed by a program regarding Leonardo DaVinci's predictions, and I was perplexed by something that Nostra "saw" in one of his many visions, which included visions of what or who would be causing chaos around the world in the next 400 years or so.

Nostra "saw" the one who became Napoleon Bonaparte, and saw the word "CORSICA" about 200 years before Napoleon was born. It just so happens that Napoleon was born in Corsica and was disastrous for France and Europe.

Later, the program shows that Nostra "saw" the word "HISTER", and a vision of a man from Europe wreaking chaos in the 20th Century. Experts believe "HISTER" was Hitler.

Next, Nostra "saw" the name MABUS. No one knows what MABUS is, and experts on the show said that MABUS has not yet happened on this planet. No one associated with the show could decipher what MABUS is.

But I immediately thought: MABUS stands for "MAHMOUD AHMADINEJAD BOMBS UNITED STATES". My family laughed at me, but I was dead serious.

Thoughts??

The History Channel has changed a lot over the last couple of years. Many nights they don't do any history at all. They've gone in big for reality shows like Ice Road Truckers and Gangland. I've noticed more and more purported history shows that repeat conspiracy theories, like the Nostra show. Take that stuff with a salt lick, definitely.

The now rare occasions they do military history they seem pretty accurate still. And when they do a special on some time period or event they still do a decent job.

It's very disappointing. One of my kids is as much of a history buff as me and we used to make Friday night our History night, but we gave up on it when History quit doing history.

I have seen several of those shows about Nostradamus. I always enjoy reading or seeing these oddities but as near as I can tell, Nostradamus was unusually bad at predicting anything.

If you write all kinds of vague predictions, sort of like what the oracle of Delphi used to do, one can nearly always make some kind of connection.

The truth is Nostradamus has nothing to say that is useful.

True, but why on earth would a ‘reputable’ cable network like The History Channel devote an hour to this man??

The History Channel has been adjusting facts for well over a year, along with "NatGeo" to fit the NWO consensus. I used to watch them extensively, now rarely.

“The day they predict the winning Lotto numbers is the day I’ll start believing.”

Your assumption is that psychics have control over what they see. I know of enough strange events that I’m willing to say there’s something there.

And one of them did concern the lottery. A friend’s mother was a religious player of the lottery. One day she was working in the garden & a series of numbers popped into her mind. She wrote them down on a scrap of paper, but didn’t go buy a ticket (I’ve forgotten the reason why). Those numbers actually did come up in the next lottery, & my friend said his mother & brother & sister would have been set for life if she had actually followed through. Too bad!

The History Channel has long since given over to a melange of fairly accurate history and outright fictional nonsense. This crap is fiction. It draws viewers. What can I say?

One of the cable channels had a two-hour show about what the govt’s plans are for the aftermath of Washington DC getting nuked. What the Hell is up with that?

A new lease on life for an old old genre: apocalypto-porn.

Sigh, like I needed more proof - another story from Ripley's Believe It or Not.
How long have you been buddies with Nostradamus?

I think the Mayan calendar also ends at 2012...

It ends on Dec 21, 2012. Their new calendar begins on Dec 22, 2012.

Nostradamus’ quatrains are available in various translations into English on the web. I wouldn’t get my hopes up about his reliability though. :’)

Sec. Mabus may have a home in Pax River so watch out! (just kidding). Truthfully, put your trust in God. No one can add a year to their life by worrying about it. Consider the lilies of the field...

I’m no buddy of Nostradamus & have no particular belief in his ‘predictions.’ But, as I said, I’ve had a number of personal experiences with psychic phenomena of one variety or another. So I’ll keep an open mind about such things. :-)

ROFLMAO! As someone who lives right outside of ‘The People’s Republik of Madistan’ and it’s downright OBSESSION with public transportation and trains, that just tickled me. :)

Exactly! And WHY does NatGeo show those stories of druggies that get caught ‘holding the bag’ and end up in foreign prisons?

WhoTF cares? For once, MY tax dollars aren’t housing and feeding a loser user!

Maybe if they couched it in those terms, they’d get more viewers? LOL!
