EDINBURGH (Reuters) - A former Libyan agent jailed for life for the 1988 Lockerbie bombing that killed 270 people flew home on Thursday after Scottish authorities released him because he is dying of cancer.
Abdel Basset al-Megrahi, believed to have less than three months to live, was freed on compassionate grounds, a decision strongly criticized by the United States, which had campaigned to keep him in prison. Many of the victims were Americans.
"He is a dying man, he is terminally ill," Scottish justice minister Kenny MacAskill told a news conference. "My decision is that he returns home to die."

He’ll just be in a waiting room before he’s called to the Highest court ... and his jury will be those murdered victims ....

I don't think the Scots portrayed by Mel would have let this terrorist survive ... more than a few seconds!

Sure, bring the Gitmo prisoners to Michigan. What could possibly go wrong?

Maybe he’ll die by strapping on a suicide vest. What the hell are those idiots thinking?

That was my first thought too - he’ll take a bunch of other people with him when he goes and the blood will be on the heads of these idiots who let him go.

I'd be OK with releasing him near Lockerbie.
Same latitude.
Same longitude.
Same altitude.

I was thinking of letting the people of Lockerbie take care of him in his final days. The garden hose catheter, etc.

Why not send him home in a body bag after he has died? That’s more than could be done for some of his victims.
