Cue the music from 2001: A Space Odyssey they discovered a monolith on the surface of Mars! Here are the details:

Image location: X: 6191 Y: 20500
Rotation of image 81.0 degrees.
A friend of mine has some impressive radio gear in, and on, one of his vehicles.
When someone asks, “Gee, what do you receive on that thing?”
He answers, “Orders.”
Obviously, the lost “Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator”!
I'm looking for the unmarked one right next to it. Have you seen it?
We have rocks like that in the Chiracahua National Monument (also known as the Wonderland of Rocks) Arizona.
My God......Its full of stars!..............
Obscure reference to the Good, the Bad, the Ugly, one of my favorites ...
I always thought that Grace Jones was, in fact, a monolith.
I agree, a result of impact, but possibly more likely to be ejecta from a distance.

We've got a winner.
In the first pic, the shadows inside the craters are at the north-northeast edge of the craters, indicating sun would be shining from the north-northeast. The obelisk shadow should be cast to the south-southwest.
I have the collectors edition of the movie with the picture and sound cleaned up. The odd thing is that the recording of the music during Tuco’s search of the graveyard is strangely distorted, as if someone went crazy with the equalization buttons...it’s the only thing disappointing about a really great DVD set.

Absolutely. You can find many examples of this type of formation both as basaltic extrusions and as weathered ancient volcanic material such as the top of Chimney Rock monument in western Nebraska.
