These men distrusted the central government and believed states rights best protected individual liberties. After debating for eleven days, it became clear that the Constitution would not be ratified in North Carolina.

What happened to our national psyche these past 220 years? Government then was distrusted, today it is embraced. Perhaps Patrick Henry knew when he said,
No theoretical checks, no form of government, can render us secure. To suppose that any form of government will secure liberty or happiness without any virtue in the people, is a chimerical idea.
And now, I’m told I live in a “blue state”.
If that’s true, I’ve got reason to have the blues.
