The cop tried repeatedly to tell Gates his name but Gates kept shouting over him. After reading teh police report I don’t know if Gates should have been arrested, I just know Obama as president shouldn’t have put both feet into this mess.
This also is an elitism issue, the “stupid” police vs the Harvard “genius”.

He told BLACK people, that because evryone in America with skin other then black, is a racist, that it is okay for THEM (those with BLACK skin) to resist law enforcement.

He is a man on a self-appointed mission, as such, he leads, supports and justifies his crusade with every staggered step he takes.

The Officer was responding to a call that a B & E was in progress. Gates’ house, as well as seven others in the neighborhood had been broken into in the last two weeks. When the police arrive at the scene and find a broken door and you inside, there is no reason for them to assume it’s your home. By the way. The house is owned by Harvard and is tax exempt. So they don’t pay for the police protection that Sgt. Crowley etal provide them.
So, will there be a quota now?
When a certain number of minorities are arrested, will law enforcement have to stop arresting them and wait for the white arrests to catch up?

Yes, I would be very greatful to have neighbors that call police if they see someone trying to jimmy my door.
A cop stopped me in the mall parking lot as I was trying to use a coat hanger to get in my car. Locked keys inside. I showed him my license. That was the end of it. He got his slimjim out of his car and helped me. Then told me to have a nice day.
Of course he was cautious at first. He saw a guy trying to break in a car. I proved I owned the car and that was that. Had I been disruptive... Had I screamed at him.... Things could have been quite different.
