Republicans Should Consider Cheney for President in 2012

Posted on 05/29/2009 12:46:24 PM PDT by Dayton3

The Republican Party should start considering actually supporting (and urging) former Vice President Cheney to run for president in 2012

So far, Cheney is the only major Republican leader who has seemed eager or interested in taking on a popular Democratic president.

Like it or not, popular or not, the Republicans need someone who is willing to fight.

True, Cheney will be in his early 70s in 2012 and has a history of heart problems, but that is no older than Dole in 96 or McCain in 08.

The Republicans could do a lot worse than electing Cheney in 2012 with a young conservative as his Vice President ready to run at the head of a ticket in 2016.

I LOVE THAT PICTURE! Cheney looks like he wants to pop BO in the nose. Cheney could take him too!

I wonder when the liberal “media” will tell us whose “turn” it’s going to be in 2012? Their 2008 selection of McCain sure did suck.

Cheney will be 71 on January 20, 2013. 10 days away from 72. Reagan was 69 on January 20, 1981. 17 days away from 70. If 30 is the new 20, 40 is the new 30, 50 is the new 40, and so on, then surely 71 can be the new 69.

Cheney has said on many occasions that he will not run. I think it is because of his heart problems.

How true. For those who forget Cheney had a small heart attack during the 2000-2001 election overtime period and campaigns are very stressful.

Cheney's willing to fight back because it cannot hurt him. He's not running for office again. Most pub's a terrified of the media backlash if the attack obama.

Well, if he can’t run then we should be milking his leadership. Who would he look at for 2012 POTUS?

I think we should let the great man rest, but be an advisor and inspiration for our up-and-coming.

Hopefully, Sarah.

Cheney has been so smeared by the MSM and their Dem talking heads that even independents who might be receptive to the ideas would not ever consider voting for Cheney. Newt has had the same hit job done to him. However, Newt while preaching family values left himself open to being painted a hypocrite with some validity. He also has gotten squishy on global warming and several other issues that have pretty much soured me on him. Cheney has not developed inside the beltway Alzheimer’s. Newt apparently likes the inside the loop cocktail parties so much that too much of his thinking has gotten fuzzy on too many issues. Too bad because Newt makes a good appearance, is very articulate, knows what true conservative values are and how to explain how implementation of them would truly benefit the vast majority of citizens.

Because of Cheney’s past heart problems, I doubt he will run for president.

What about Petraeus-Palin?

Cheney’s support of gays is because he is conflicted due to his own daughter.....do you not think many of us have that same conflict in our families? just like the unwed pregnancy of Sarah’s daughter....we all have that in our families or our close circles as well.....we live, therefore we sin...so to speak.....the perfect candidate might well be a phony, I would rather know his flaws up front.....I would support Cheney, though disagree on one issue....as he serves me very well on all other issues. sadly, I fear he could not win, due to the steady drumbeat of lies that appear in the msm daily about him, or Sarah for that matter and for the same reason.

I’m not finding anything on Cheney and his view of ‘comprehensive immigration reform’ (aka amnesty) lately. Is he still all for it. Would he again pick an open border person like Cesar Conda, who went to work for a Soros organization, to head up his domestic policy as he did before?

“Cheney could take him too!”

From his wheelchair, probably. Wouldn’t even have to get up...

With the way the pubs are handling themselves now, their only hope is for Hillary to quit as SOS and her and Bill switch to the republican party coming out and declaring BO’s administration a complete failure.

The joy of thinking about the turmoil it would cause for the DEMONS

Just SARC!

Cheney has stated that he has absolutely no desire to run for president. I think he’s had it with politics.

He should have been Bush 41’s VP choice instead of Quayle. There would never have been a Clinton in the White House.
