WASHINGTON - For the first time the U.S. First Lady has made Maxim magazine's annual top 100 list of "hottest women in the world," with Michelle Obama making the grade at number 93.
Billed as the "stimulus package America really needs," the British-based international magazine known for revealing pictorials of models and actresses showcases Obama in her tasteful official White House portrait.
In the rare accolade for a political spouse, the magazine notes that her husband President Barack Obama "may be dealing with two wars, an economic meltdown, and a rapidly graying dome.
"But at least our Commander in Chief gets to come home to the hottest First Lady in the history of these United States."
Obama has been hailed as a style icon by fashionistas around the world since her husband was elected president.
Maxim's self-described "eyeball-searing, fantasy-fulfilling, brain-exploding" list has Obama topping "Top Chef" host and model Padma Lakshmi (95) and Oscar-winning "Wrestler" star Marisa Tomei (97).
The magazine, which has a monthly U.S. circulation of some 2.5 million and is distributed throughout the world, moved over last year's chart-topper "Transformers" star Megan Fox to give the number one spot to TV's "House" actress Olivia Wilde.

She looks like my granny. Well she was almost of "granny age" when they married.
Actually, the marriage of Bess and Harry Truman was a very touching love story.
He wooed her for about twenty years, and worked hard to have something to offer her as a man.
They married relatively late in life.
Read David McCullough's biography Truman and you will be surprised at their love affair.

Re: Harry and Mrs. Truman: theres a great story in Harry Trumans biography about how he had to leave town alone (as President) for several weeks; when he came back, he and the Missus broke the bed getting reacquainted LOL.Mrs. Truman was very embarassed when she reported the damaged furniture to the White House staff. :0)
I remember that story, as well, from David McCullough's biography of Truman.
They had a real love story.

She wont wear a classic suit and behave like a lady (like real First Ladies) because she would become a reflection of normal America. In doing so she would become a symbol of that which she hates. And those righteous Obamas take the high road of course, desiring to be true to themselves. Hence the thugwear. Thank you.
That is the best explanation for her in-your-face wardrobe that I have read.

As with so many attempts at humor these days, the picture is so close to reality that we’re easily taken in.

I'm assuming that the first image is a wedding photo ... she's definitely of "middle age" there. My grandmother had a tight smile and sparkling eyes, much like Mrs. Truman in that second image.
My stack o' books to read is already huge, but I'll take your recommendation of Truman under advisement.

OMG - kids do notice this!! They were paying more attention to her underpants than the book she was reading, trust me!
Michelle needs to go to CHARM SCHOOL to learn how to dress, sit, walk, and behave.
What a disaster.

Kudos to Michelle for keeping her knees together!

she created and how was she reported on?
