Is this prince the current Pretender, oops, King of France!
When I clicked the link, the first photo, looked to me...in my snarky way of looking at the world...like the Michelle Obama ‘cardigan with everything’ fashion manifesto had applied. Then I noted the turquoisey tieraey thingy...I’m just not feeling the whole look.
Pretty bad when even royals disappoint...
Royalty is make believe. There is nothing special about them.
Okay, those pictures were fun to look at. Looks like a couple of the guys attending couldn’t be bothered to shave for the occasion. I didn’t care for the turquoise tiara and I wondered if they suggested the guests wear either turquoise or salmon/orange?
Plus, the guy looks like a Republican accountant to me... some king!
Look at the second picture of them both close up, they look like brother and sister. Same nose, same mouth, same brow, different eye color but the features look so much alike it makes me wonder.
The blue accents in the tiara, gown, his vest, etc. undoubtedly have some historical meaning, not to us, but to them. It's THEIR country and THEIR lineage for which I'm sure they're as proud of as we are of our own.
The hand embroidered wrap is exquisite and undoubtedly has heraldic or historical meaning also. The veil is gorgeous and I think I see the French fleur de lis embroidered on it.
The bride is beautiful and carries the whole thing off with French sophistication and elegance, which Michelle could never accomplish.
We're so used to seeing the all the boobs-revealing, cookie-cutter bridal outfits on Bridezillas and other TV wedding shows that anything different or unusual becomes sinister and unattractive.
They make an attractive, happy couple, he's not bad, she's charming and friendly-looking, they're not communists for gawd's sake, and they contributed to the income of many of the country's needy artisans, dressmakers, florists and caterers.
Lighten up and be happy....vive l'amour and all that good stuff!

It is the Bourbon descendant who has the strongest claim if there is any such thing in a Republic. The Orleans brance is indeed descended from Phillipe Egalite aka the commie king. Jean de France is not a Bourbon, and is not related to King Juan Carlos of Spain, whi is a Bourbon.
The bride is from the Spanish and Austrian nobility.
I will post more details about the dress and the wedding this week.
I’m sure there will be more stories in English in print tomorrow.
The groom is 43, the bride is 31.
The dress is magnificent. It was designed by the remarkable french designer Christian Lacroix. The veil is over 200 years old. The tiara is from the Bride’s family collection.
The Civil Marriage took place last month in Paris, performed by Rachida Dati. Because the Cathedral wedding was of an already married couple, there was more leeway in dress.
The jacket, embroidered in gold and with a floral motif in color, is gorgeous in detail.
The idea that any of this resembles MOBama is a bad joke.
Oh my gosh... the pictures of the little kiddos are very cute. I wonder how many times they had to practice for this big day :):)
She is gorgeous, her gown divine and very proper and I, for one, love the Persian turquoise, as my family’s jewelry — handed down for the last 200 years is also diamond and Persian turquoise. I wear it very occasionally and with great pride. I love needlework which the French and Spanish are very famous for and brought the best I could afford home with me from my European visit. Her mantilla is exquisite.
She looks fine. I did have to check and make sure it wasn’t two males getting “married” though..
Whew!
“It is the second engagement of Jean dOrléans, since in 2001 his engagement to Tatjana d Oldenbourg, a German aristocrat Duchess, had been cancelled supposedly because of her religion six months after the announcement.”

Although I do think that most are being overly critical of this beautiful couple on their happiest of days, I must agree that — from a fashion perspective — public brides will be judged on their appearance. Yes, her gown and tiara are exquisite, however they just don’t work for her. Being tall, slim, attractive and blond, she could have incorporated all of her ancestral elements into a demure gown that was more fitting of her style, body shape and country of origin. Simple silhouettes work best for women over 35 — I should know, as I’m over 40. What’s most important is that they’ve found true love.
