“It is the second engagement of Jean d’Orléans, since in 2001 his engagement to Tatjana d’ Oldenbourg, a German aristocrat Duchess, had been cancelled supposedly because of her religion six months after the announcement.”

I did neglect to mention the Orleans family dysfunctional family situation.

The Groom’s father, the current Comte de Paris is divorced and remarried. His first wife, the mother of the Groom, the Duchesse de Montpensier, attended the wedding. The current wife, “Princess Michaela” didn’t attend the wedding because she was hospitalized.

The Groom is not legitimately the heir apparant to the ( non-existent) French throne. He has an oldlder brother who is mentally handicapped, who is thre actual heir.

The Groom’s grand parents, the legendary, Count and Countess of Paris, were long separated. Not sure if they actually divorced. When they died, their many children fought like beasts over the division of their property, and when they couldn’t agree, it was finally auctioned off, including many historical treasures... for the money.

I remember attending the preview for the jewelry sale in Monaco. The devoted children sued one another, and got a Court injunction to stop the sale the night before the bidding began. The jewelry, much of it historic, was magnificent and worth a small fortune.
