Sorry not to have been around much of late, been neck deep in getting my latest book edited. My fingers, (or the laptop) have of late become very careless, the spelling is getting bad! Thank the Lord for spellchecker, it saves the day. Still not bad for a four finger typist who’s cranked out nearly forty books. Did a word count of the books the other day and found that I’ve typed over 1.6 million words in all. Not bad for a guy with only four fingers fit to type with, (and not working as a gossip columnist.) Done now for a while, and can take some time to enjoy the fun being here on the board again. Miss the great recipes, and the graphics of you gifted creators of visual art!

I bet many of us can remember dancing on our mother’s feet like in your graphic.
It brought back a little memory to me. My mama had a small foot and I would take one of her high heels and put my foot in it and see that it was too big. Then, I would turn it over and measure the bottom of my foot to the bottom of her high heel. When you measured with the shoe that way because it was a high heel, it looked like it was the right length of my foot so I would put my foot in it again.....I was too young to figure it out. Guess it was too much for a little mind to comprehend....LOL!

What good news! I was starting to worry about you and am glad you've been absent for good reasons.
40 books! I had no idea it was so many! But got a question, you have KEPT 1.6 million words; how many do you think you've actually written?
When your fingers frustrate, remember the old mechanical typewriters. Not only were they harder physically to type on, if you made a mistake you started all over again.
So, would I be interested in any of those books? Are they poetry all? I might need a signed copy.

You took my words. I too, thought the sentiment was beautiful and I think the photo kind of goes with it; couldn't find what I had in mind but at least it doesn't detract from the poem.
Happy Mother's Day!

"But got a question, you have KEPT 1.6 million words; how many do you think you've actually written?"
In truth I'd say easily half again as many words, somewhere around 2.4 to 2.5 million words over the eight years I've been writing books.

"So, would I be interested in any of those books?"
Check them out on lulu.com. Search under Johnn Schroeder in books.
Most are action fiction with a western, some cyborg, a bit of myth, a fantasy trilogy, and yes, poetry as well. A variety of story lines, male and female protagonists, and plots to consider.
Now here's the deal, for those of you interested in reading any of them and are willing to post a poem of 4 verse lines, with 3 to 4 sets of verses (a quatrain) be it serious or utterly wonderfully silly, I will send you PDF copies of the books you are interested in reading for free.
As for books of my poetry, their unfortunately expensive through lulu, and if unsigned electronic versions are suitable, I'll send them along.
Post a poem, and PM me with your book choices, (More then one is quite fine), and your email to send them to.
I look forward to your poems.

To My Mother Because I feel that, in the Heavens above, The angels, whispering to one another, Can find, among their burning terms of love, None so devotional as that of "Mother,"
Therefore by that dear name I long have called you You who are more than mother unto me, And fill my heart of hearts, where Death installed you In setting my Virginia's spirit free. My mothermy own mother, who died early, Was but the mother of myself; but you Are mother to the one I loved so dearly, And thus are dearer than the mother I knew By that infinity with which my wife Was dearer to my soul than its soul-life.

Roses are red
violence leaves you blue
Such is the truth not new
so says wise old Uncle Fred
Rubber duckies in the rain
splashing in puddles so wet
Not a care, nothing to fret
leave some thinking you insane
Life’s a hoot if you live it well
leave not a thing undone
For time does but run
and who cares what the tabloids tell

" Miss the great recipes, and the graphics of you gifted creators of visual art!"I miss those wonderful breakfasts you used to serve us, too! (Sniff sniff)
And, your poem "At The Bijou Of Our Lives" was very meaningful - and almost impossible to find a graphic for.
When I finally found the 'perfect' one, you should'a heard me "WHOO HOO!"
