Martial-arts master Chuck Norris has his sights set on becoming more than a Texas Ranger - he has volunteered to run as the state's first president.
Norris, who played TV hardman Cordell Walker in hit series Walker, Texas Ranger, has put himself up for the job of running the region after discussing the possibility of the state seceding from U.S. control during a rant on CNN.com's political blog.
The actor, who is a staunch Republican, insists Texans want an independent state after being let down by the American government - and thinks he'd be the ideal candidate to lead the Lone Star state's revolution.
He says, "I may run for president of Texas. That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.
"Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America."
I don't put anything past the jack booted thugs in DC. If Eric Holder will remove a small child at gunpoint to deport him back to Cuba, anything is possible.
UM... he wouldn’t be the first President of Texas acually....
and besides I think we need someone else, I am just not sure who
I will not vote for any candidate who denounces the notion that a State has the right to secede, because to denounce the right to secede is to denounce the Declaration of Independence.
Lincoln said many good and true things, before and during his Presidency. But he was in the pocket of the Northern industrialists and protectionists, and did nothing to prevent secession, or the war. Hi sassassination, and freeing the slaves, made him a “great,” more or less permanently. But a greater man would have averted secession and the war.
I want a Republican who can defend the right of secession, who is articulate on the subject, who can point out that there will be no DANGER of secession if the federal government doesn’t usurp powers not in the Constitution.
All the recent talk of secession over taxes, regulations, unfunded mandates, and the Porkulus wouldn’t be stomach-turning—IF THE STATES HAD MADE AS BIG A RUCKUS OVER THE MURDER OF FIFTY MILLION BABIES, which also came about through federal imperialism.
I would like to see a Constitutional amendment that states explicitly that secession, and advocacy of secession, are NOT “rebellion” or “treason.” I.e., the federal government’s “dominion” over any State is NOT by some right of the federal government, but entirely a consequence of a choice by the people of the State.
“NOT rebellion or treason.”
You know thats the light they would paint it in though.
Texas came in as a Republic and their clause allows secession or division into up to five smaller States.
BTTT
FUBO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eventually they'll pin it on people anyways for not being a registered dim...
Ok already. I’ll do it if you insist.
The fact that Texas is the only state to really talk like this shows they don’t only have big HORNS all over the place down there :)
I was at the TEA party in Belton, TX and it was awesome.
Side note: After the pledge to the Texas flag a guy behind me said, Im not from Texas. Im from Minnisota. I turned around and said, We cant all be perfect.
I have said that in response to those who have said they are not Catholic as well!
God Bless the Great State of Texas!
That is redundant.
Of course. That’s how Lincoln described it.
And there’s “Rebel Yell.”
Secession—by a state legislature—is not rebellion or treason.
Secession? That would be a G_D Send to the Liberals and the Left. It would start the break-up the United States and destroy it. That’s what they want, period. To me all this talk of secession is akin to running away from a problem, and we all know what always happens when you run away from a problem, it simply becomes a bigger one.
This is the wrong path for texas or any state, if ever a time when we need to re-unite ourselves and form a common front it is now. This is why I support the Tea parties, it is a beginning and it must be carried through until we achieve victory - Let’s “Take America back”!
