I will not vote for any candidate who denounces the notion that a State has the right to secede, because to denounce the right to secede is to denounce the Declaration of Independence.

Lincoln said many good and true things, before and during his Presidency. But he was in the pocket of the Northern industrialists and protectionists, and did nothing to prevent secession, or the war. Hi sassassination, and freeing the slaves, made him a “great,” more or less permanently. But a greater man would have averted secession and the war.

I want a Republican who can defend the right of secession, who is articulate on the subject, who can point out that there will be no DANGER of secession if the federal government doesn’t usurp powers not in the Constitution.

All the recent talk of secession over taxes, regulations, unfunded mandates, and the Porkulus wouldn’t be stomach-turning—IF THE STATES HAD MADE AS BIG A RUCKUS OVER THE MURDER OF FIFTY MILLION BABIES, which also came about through federal imperialism.

I would like to see a Constitutional amendment that states explicitly that secession, and advocacy of secession, are NOT “rebellion” or “treason.” I.e., the federal government’s “dominion” over any State is NOT by some right of the federal government, but entirely a consequence of a choice by the people of the State.
