Is diluted hydrogen peroxide safe to use as an antiseptic mouthwash
Sure! Your tongue might turn blonde, though!
yes don’t swallow it taste like crap and will foam up a bit use a vodka chaser
I was instructed to rinse with 1 pt hydrogen peroxide and 1 pt baking soda back when I had my wisdom teeth removed.
I did, and I never had any problems. It wasn’t nasty either, just weird texture-wise.
Been using it for years:
Another idea for getting peroxide in to your gums: Put hydrogen peroxide into a Water Pik and then spray the peroxide at your gums, as you usually would do with a Water Pik. I think the people I’ve heard of doing this have used a mixture of half water and half 3% peroxide. (The mixture is 1.5% peroxide.) Three percent hydrogen peroxide might be abit too strong to spray into your gums?
If you have periodontal disease, the peroxide doesn’t do any good- it doesn’t reach the anerobic bacteria in the pockets- brush and floss- mechanical debridement works best, see your dentist regularly.
yes, absolutely.
when i had my wisdom teeth pulled last year the left holes into my sinus cavity if i swished it would come out my nose it was gross
In oral hygiene and dentistry, debridement refers to the removal of plaque and calculus that have accumulated on the teeth. Debridement in this case may be performed using ultrasonic instruments, which fracture the calculus, thereby facilitating its removal, as well as hand tools, including periodontal scaler and curettes, or through the use of chemicals such as hydrogen peroxide.
Is that some kind of kinky honeymoon procedure?
No, you're better off buying Crest pro-health. I was at risk for gum disease until I started using it. After 2 weeks my gum sores have healed.
I have rinsed with hydrogen perxoide every morning for years.
Yep. Just keep it in the 3% to 6% solution range. The solution commonly sold in drugstores. It’s not a cure all and does help kill germs but it may take a bit of use. Its not an immediate thing. Very similar to warm salt water
I use it for teeth whitening since I drink a lot of coffee and tea.

S’pose it could be!
Hydrogen peroxide is one of the unsung chemical heroes IMHO, not only can you use it for rinsing your mouth, you can (with an eye dropper) use it to clean out ear wax (method: lay on one side, have someone drip hydrogen peroxide into your ear, you’ll experience a warm crackling sort of sensation like bubbles (which is what it’s doing) and after about 1 to 2 minutes, hold a kleenex to your ear, get up and let it drain out. Repeat for the other side).
If you’re suffering from any kind of head or chest cold, add 250 ml of hydrogen peroxide to a cold water humidifier and let it run in your bedroom while you’re sleeping. The moist air w/hydro-peroxide will help loosen up that junk in your lungs and air way. It will also promote drainage from out of the sinus as well.
AND (for the coup d’grace), although yours truly has never had need to use hydrogen peroxide for the following purpose, I was once told by a urologist (this applies to men only of course) that hydrogen peroxide is excellent for keeping that nasty substance commonly referred to as ‘smegma’ under control.
Let the jokes begin, lol
It works great, as long as you don’t need flouride or enamal restoration.
It kills all bacteria. Sores have a tendency not to heal very swiftly.
Don’t swallow either.
My grandmother used to always make us swish with peroxide and often brush our teeth with baking soda.
She was way ahead of the times.
haha, thanks for sharing. Brings up a nice mental image.
