My observation is that the final 4 are all beyond amateurs in one form or another. The great debate about Idol the last few seasons has centered over whether the competition should be a true amateur forum or not. I suppose the producers have decided, (probably correctly), that totally weeding out anyone who has had any sort of professional experience would produce a very dull and boring show. Thus people with professional experience are allowed to compete.

Appreciate your insight into how Sun Studios works. Didnt know that.I might add that Elvis first recorded there at Sun and then latter for RCA?

Thanks, this is the first season my wife and I have watched all the competition , so this insight is very helpful.
Had the same impression early on regarding experience , especially when you see the true amateurs in the qualifiers, but figured that the producers feel the show still draws with this mix, and that’s what they are all about.

I still have a Sun label Elvis - Baby Let’s Play House, course haven’t been able to play it for years

I read that Kris had cut an album with some college buddies, but I don’t think it was ever picked up by any recording company. My feeling on Adam is that he has professional theatre experience, which gave him a huge advantage over the others—Simon commented that he was the most comfortable on stage of any previous competitor. I think AI/19 had gotten some buzz about Adam early on and showcased him in the competition to give him national exposure which will help him sell music for them when Idol is over. Adam gets an instant recording career and AI/19 makes money. He had the most blatant pimping by AI since Fantasia, IMO.

WAIT ... there's more! THE Adam Lambert wash cloth ...
Can I trade it in for a Tatiana wash cloth (or better yet, a crying towel)?
To: silent_jonny
And for all the hard work you do on these threads, I must reciprocate and give you a set of Tatiani Knives and a just-released album of "Tatiana Sings That One Whitney Houston Song Over and Over Again."
