It was Carl Sagan. What specifically do you think Sagan did or said?

http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ What is SETI@home? SETI@home is a scientific experiment that uses Internet-connected computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). You can participate by running a free program that downloads and analyzes radio telescope data... dragnet2, people have been looking for "intelligent life" for 40 years or so... and so far - nothing. Not a sentence. Not a rational string of numbers. Nothing. If you want to sign up and help look, go for it. When SETI started, I assumed, like almost everyone - that whatever direction we pointed our ears - we would hear the sounds of alien civilizations. But ZIP. It doesn't add up - but I wouldn't turn to "scientists" especially the liberal kind - to understand this - or anything else.

It would seem only the arrogant, or possibly ignorant amongst us would suggest out of the potential of hundreds of billions of planets, we are somehow the only planet to have life. Only TWO possibilities??
You left out BELIEVERS.
In the Man who, about 2000 years ago, did such amazing miracles in the presense of many witnesses that an entire World was turned upside down by His teachings.
Made the audacious claim that HE created all the stuff we see around us.
HE must have been NUTS!!; right?

It was Carl Sagan. I met a protege of Carl Sagan when I was young and he was a professor. He was the most aggressive Atheist I ever met. Sagan hated God. He has his reward right now. It is very hot, and terrible.

“I think the scientists who still think there billions and billions of civilizations out there are the same people who try to sell global warming.”
Well, I don’t know about billions and billions of civilizations out there, but there are a whole bunch of stars, and a lot of them have planets, and surely a few of those have life...probably more than we can count on both hands. I would imagine that there are a few civilizations out there, just based upon the laws of probability. And It seems logical to me that, because of the inanity of the AGW argument, that maybe those guys and gals might be from one of them and bent upon a take over...... Makes as much sense as AGW.

He was the most aggressive Atheist I ever met. No, I'm not kidding. Seems some, like you want to make this a religious thread...
That's why I left...Feel free!

So do you believe there is life outside earth? What I BELIEVE has no bearing.
I cannot CREATE anything or DESTROY anything by either believeing in it or not.
What we DO have is no EVIDENCE of life other than Earth.

Why??
Law of Probability?
What is THAT?
What DATA will you plug into this 'law' to test the assertion?
