>>>Truthfully, his anger when he’s read the news since Nov. 4 has given me concerns for his health. It is just not healthy to be so overwhelmingly overtaken by an anger like that. <<<

My wife tells me the same thing.... Grrrrrrrrrrr...

The Texas valley? I guess I’m still learning. lol What do they grow?

Yes ma'am. The Texas Valley. I got grapefruits, oranges, some tangerines (I think) or Clementines, don't really know the difference. And mom knows I love lemons so I got a couple of those. They always buy a mixed box from someone. People sell at markets in some towns and along the sides of the roads some places. Mom and dad have friend's down there so I think they have routine places where they buy things.

Well, I do the cornmeal with a Victoria mill $29.95 - works great as well as for cracked wheat - but not good enough for flour. I can also do beans in it which will clog up a stone mill.

Right now, I use a blender to do the flour but want to get a stone mill too. Price is way too high for most of them. There is one that sounds good - can be either hand or motor driven, but it looks too small/light weight for when I get cranking too hard.

I have toyed with the idea of trying it in my #10 meat grinder/sausage stuffer, but I also read somewhere that they can crack doing that - so I haven’t tried. I use it too much with venison and chicken, and I think I will try to find Granny’s grain sausage recipe and try stuffing some of that. I got a 3/4” plate for it and really like that grind for making chili Texas style from just about any cut of meat.

The only time I have ever ground flour I used my blender. Since Lloyd is currently willing to talk about a hand grinder I need to figure out what I want.

Seemed like there was someone on the first thread saying they’d just gotten a mill they really liked but I’ve scannned and scanned tonight and not found such a thing.

Going back to shopping for it now.....

LOL Our 12 year old came down ready to go to town with me a couple of weeks ago - (while mom was working) and she was wearing 3 padded bras - all at the same time....

Had to send her back up to re-do that process.....

This is scary:

http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread437754/pg1

Market Ticker - Source
8:17 CT

I do not know what is going on here, and I don’t think I want to.

Someone, apparently someone in Asia, wants dollars. A LOT of dollars. There is a forced-liquidation event underway that is massive, it is against all asset classes and it is spreading.

It originated at approximately 7:15 CT this evening and originated out of Asia somewhere. All of the primary currency crosses got hit at once - Euro, Pound, Yen - all weakened dramatically against the dollar and it is still going on. The Asian stock markets got walloped at the same time in coordinated waves of forced selling.

At the same time the US futures markets got nailed as well, down some six handles on the /ES in a near-vertical drop. While this sounds “not that big” to move these markets in a coordinated fashion like this is a trillion-dollar enterprise - this is not some small company that went bankrupt, or even a large company.

There is no news coverage at the present time identifying the source of this but it is not small and contrary to some reports it is not “automatic selling”; this is forced liquidation.

Folks, if this translates into Eastern Europe where there are severe instabilities already brewing literally everything in the financial world could come apart “all at once.”

The worse news is that if this happens Bernanke will have killed us (in the US) by extending those swap lines all over the planet during the last six months. These will become utterly uncollectable and they are massive, in the many hundreds of billions of dollars.

To those who are reading this, I hope if you’re in the markets you are prepared for extreme levels of violence. You must expect that the authorities will try to arrest the destruction if they are able, but you must also be prepared for the possibility that we have reached a “critical mass” point beyond which “duck and cover” is the only winning strategy.

Unfortunately.

That comes from Karl Denninger.
http://market-ticker.org/archives/801-RED-ALERT-FX-Dislocation-In-Process.html

Will this reverse before our markets open in the morning, or are we going to see something really ugly??

I don’t know, only time will tell

Thanks for the link, Quix

I sit here knowing that I need to eat and can’t think of anything I want, so end up with cheese and crackers.

LOL, Scott got good grapes last time, does that make it a balanced meal?

That's a good meal, actually. Good going.

Thanks for your kind reply and carrying it forward.

You might go to the ATS link.

There are some sharp cookies on there, too, in the UK, Australia, Hong Kong etc. who may be diligently ferreting more details out from around the world.

What are the merits of a mill vs a VitaMix?

The drivers have spent so many years driving on Saturday night tracks (1/4 mile ovals, dirt or asphalt if they are lucky, nothing dirtier than a racecar that spent 30 laps on clay), they are used to it. LOL a two 1/2 mile track is like forever!

Martinsville is a twin of the late, great Mesa Marin in Bakersfield. They tore it down in 2005 and used the land for houses. They are supposed to finish the replacement but I had heard they ran short on money. I hope they finish, I’d love to go to the new track. That’s where Kevin Harvick and John Hornaday cut their teeth.

Your husband sounds like mine. I try to keep my indignation in check because he just takes off with such venom, I wish I’d never brought it up. Good thing we both like NASCAR, we can safely be indignant about that. Although, he gets really incensed if something bad happens to Harvick. It took him three years to stop climbing the walls defending Barry Bonds (he’s a die-hard Giants fan). He’s so cute, though. Very loyal. He took care of me last year to recover from cancer. He’s one in a million.

I totally love potatoes but they are restricted on the kidney disease diet. Too much potassium. You’re supposed to soak them in water for a couple of hours first but that leaches out all the vitamins. I do miss them. :(

Yeah, she usually says -’Have you taken your aspirin today?’

And she never lets me forget the blood pressure medicine or the cholesterol meds... Even if we are in bed, she will check to ask if I took them - If I didn’t, she will even get up and go downstairs and get them with the water and INSISTS that I immediately take them.

I don't know much about the VitaMix. Only seen ads on TV. But, for my needs, I want something to grind grain and/or beans without electricity. So, I'm looking for a hand mill not electric.

I still love our local 1/4 mile short track too. Spent many a great family night there with the kids. And I spent one season as the track photographer. I loved it! I'm trying to get my daughter's family in Alabama to check out that kind of action as an alternative to some of the routine things they do. I know they'd love it, they all watch the Sprint Cup races on TV AND we have our own family Yahoo Fantasy League. I think I'm going to have to go to Alabama JUST to take them to that local track! LOL

Hear you loud and clear on that!

He’s so cute, though. Very loyal. He took care of me last year to recover from cancer. He’s one in a million.

Bless both your hearts. I had gathered quite a bit about your cancer bout from your posts here. I admire the way you've fought back with true health.

Lloyd and I have only been together 3 years but he has stuck with me through some really trying physical times already and I am humbled at his heart. I was in an accident 5 years ago and it's left me with occasional 'bouts of disability - really occasional - but I don't think Lloyd knew he was signing on for how bad it gets sometimes. It was extremely humbling the first time he had to carry me from the bed to the bathroom. So, I love him all that much more dearly for all that.

Of course, since we were both middle age when me met it's been some series of finding out the reality of those things in our relationship. His trying physical moment was that he's had a scare with prostate cancer. Turned out to be NOT cancer but I am now doing my best to transition to feeding him a more nutritious diet, starting with an abundance of fresh veggies and supplements targeting balancing his body out. There's improvement but he's not on board for going vegan since he did not have cancer. I'm still working on daily menu planning so that he can stay in a better position NOT to contract that disease. It's been gratifying to pick up from your posts that I'm on the right track. I must be reading the right books.

Well, if it helps you are not alone! I never thought I'd have to do without potatoes! Even as a kid I would often tell folks a potato was my favorite food. Not cake, not ice cream. You can probably tell I was a chubby kid though.

I found a recipe using cauliflower as a substitute for garlic mashed potatoes. It was good but it didn't substitute. There is also a restaurant in Waco that serves one of those Adkins diet menus that will make a stuffed baked potato using cauliflower instead of potatoes.

IMO - cauliflower is cauliflower and while I like it very much, it does not sub for my taters.
