The drivers have spent so many years driving on Saturday night tracks (1/4 mile ovals, dirt or asphalt if they are lucky, nothing dirtier than a racecar that spent 30 laps on clay), they are used to it. LOL a two 1/2 mile track is like forever!

Martinsville is a twin of the late, great Mesa Marin in Bakersfield. They tore it down in 2005 and used the land for houses. They are supposed to finish the replacement but I had heard they ran short on money. I hope they finish, I’d love to go to the new track. That’s where Kevin Harvick and John Hornaday cut their teeth.

I still love our local 1/4 mile short track too. Spent many a great family night there with the kids. And I spent one season as the track photographer. I loved it! I'm trying to get my daughter's family in Alabama to check out that kind of action as an alternative to some of the routine things they do. I know they'd love it, they all watch the Sprint Cup races on TV AND we have our own family Yahoo Fantasy League. I think I'm going to have to go to Alabama JUST to take them to that local track! LOL
