This is the live thread for the final episodes of Battlestar Galactica!! SO SAY WE ALL!!
Well the ‘humans’ on ‘earth’ were Cylon ‘skin jobs’, but the ‘Centurions’ on ‘Earth’ were not related to the ‘Centurions’ on the worlds of Kobol. Go figure!
Well something cause the war..
Kara finding her body did have me doubting myself...but...the last cylon wasn't supposed to be in the final supper pic.
I also started to have doubts tonight when Dee offed herself. What a waste.
You are the only one I ever heard saying it was Ellen. You ought to put it in your tagline!
Well Tigh lived in the same general area, and we do not know that he didn’t know the others.
Or the human-humans and humanoid cylons of Kobol could have fought a war with the cylon-centurians. Then with a devastated Kobol, they split up, with the human cylons not welcome with the “pure” humans.
Fast forward a couple thousand years. The Kobol skin jobs created centurions, fought a war, and all died. The pure humans, being inferior, required 2000 extra years to create their own cylons - who created skin jobs. Then the pure human colonies fight a war with their centurians and lose.
So whenever you have “skin jobs”, they make centurians and eventually get killed by them.
Cavil - who is a machine and embraces such - might be the last remaining form of life. He could make more cylons, begin a download process, and keep up the machine race forever. Skin jobs who are confident in being machines are in charge, with mechanical centurions kept dumb. As long as none of the “dumb” ones get smart and rebel ...
Lesson learned - don’t create sentient machines.
So the whole story is kind of an anti- Isaac Asimov?
To be honest...it could only be 1 of three people without being obvious (which RDM wasn't going to do): 1) Ellen; 2) Dee; 3) Gaeta.
Right before Dee killed herself and they showed the pic of her in the locker...I thought it was her...since that was one of the clues on the sci-fi site. The final and most obvious clue was 22:59:44...which was when Saul revealed Ellen. So it is her....
That would mean that the Ellen Tigh we knew was a total facade? Bad plot device.
I dunno. We know from Kara being a Cylon that it’s the Cylons’ earth. However it could also be the humans’ earth if you consider the Cylons were already amongst them when the planet was destroyed. Maybe it was a Terminator-style cyborg attack which sent humanity fleeing before earth’s destruction and ‘skin jobs’ fled along with them. The skin jobs waited 2000 years for humans to develop technology by which they could return to earth. The Cylons have always been predatory to humans in the series so they needed a reason to make humans flee the colonies and head back to earth to be able to return themselves.
Or mimicking “Terminator”.
Someone is definitely manipulating the situation. So many people are having visions that lead them to this point. Roslyn with her visions of Earth and the temple. Starbuck with her visions of the comet signpost that lead to Earth. Diana with her visions of the final five every time she died and was resurrected. The writers have a lot to wrap up but so far I like your explanation.
I missed something. What was significant about 22:59:44?
That’s quite a transmission range.
I wonder if the human skin jobs of Earth were “human” to themselves. They had kids, as evidenced by the jacks Dualla found.
Then the final five could be “biological cylon descended humans” of the cylons who fled Kobol.
Big leap of how they could be on Earth 2000 years later:
The human beings descended from Kobol cylons are human. They’re mortal. But like many, they don’t want to die. What if these final five created a hybrid type technology to download “human” conciousness into engineered biological bodies? This would be like the cylon mind download, but the “original” mind was from a body born as a baby. Now you have a human stepping into the cylon download immortality scenario.
This could explain why the final five are so much more human. Because, in their FIRST life on Earth, they WERE human.
All you need then is a body that doesn’t age or deteriorate, or a way to replace that body when it fails. The Colonial cylons picked the latter. What if the Earth humans-to-cylons picked the former? Download once to a body that won’t die unless an extreme event happens.
If all the other humans could have that kind of technology, you’d end death - except by murder and suicide. But it’s a kind of immortality.
Just never create the mechanicals who would hate you, and you have the best of both worlds. Human souls, immortality, option to make kids to fill up a new world ...
Some of those scenes on “Earth” remind me very much of Caprica - post attack, when Kara first went back to get the spear - did she really ever make it back?....
