I think they do it so that they can have the #1 person close the show AGAIN, getting the pimp spot AGAIN.
LOL! Ken, you're not missing anything. The format for this year's show is one hot mess. But...it's still the #1 show on TV, so the producers are getting positive feedback whether or not the audience intends for that to happen.
Let's face it...there's always something compelling about watching a train wreck. We humans are such perverse creatures. We love our guilty pleasures.
So, who will they choose to give the pimp spot to next week? Who do you think they think is the best out of the next bunch?
There are a couple of contenders. Lil Rounds, Von Smith, Nathanial Marshall, Jorge Nunez.
I think they're trying to create a fake anxiety -- as in "OMG... could it really be Tatiana instead of Danny?", and then make the "surprise" be that there is no surprise.
Doesn't work well, IMO.
That’s a good point.
Guys have closed the show the first two weeks. We’ve also had two guys and one gal advance each of the first two weeks.
I’m thinking that they will have a gal close the show. Of course it all depends on their song choices.
Lil Rounds
I think so too.
Here's a thought, if you've got room for one more: don't spend paragraphs trying to tell me why you don't care. Don't reply to me and show me how much you really don't care.
I didn't know I was interupting your therapy. Most people on FR know their comments can be replied to by those who diagree. That is the nature of things here.
This is the only thread I've seen where a therapy group doesn't want disagreement. You should post a "Group in Session" sign.
OK..Possibly I was too harsh..it wasn’t my intent. Just that we’ve been doing this for several years now..we do all sort of know each other..and while we do cover a wide range of topics..it is a sort of escapism for us...and while of course your comments are welcome, well dude..they did seem a tad snippy..so if I may suggest, do come back..jump in, but dial it back just a tad..and you’ll enjoy yourself immensely. YOuy also must realize that for most of us..well, watching the screen AND reading the thread, AND typing responses at the same time..well...we’re all not that good at multitasking..
I noticed this week there was a lot of "he's so gay" and I thought other irrelevant comments. I summarized in one comment and got flamed by a small group of posters.
I'm not so shy and I won't let people posting false information drive me off a thread. skate and kitten, and silent could have stopped at any time, as I had nothing more to say, except to respond to their personal attacks.
I suggest a chat thread for those in the inner sanctum who don't want to risk that someone who is not here to be their best bud will come in and say one of their posts didn't make sense.
Then I was accused of being a woman who is a Prince fan, because apparently I signed up at the wrong time. Foloowed to a call to mods to investigate me (you can see where that went). We'll I've been here much longer than most here, except you.
I will continue to point out when people who attack me do so with false information. However, if they don't address me, the war is over. I will respond to show opinion and post my own.
Best wishes and thanx for the civil post.
I'm not one to get involved in disputes between posters, but I will disagree that some of those comments are irrelevant.
American Idol is not, and has never been, a "singing contest", no matter how many times they try to say that.
It is a marketing competition, where the contestants are trying to "sell" themselves to a voting (and eventually music-buying) public. Singing well, of course, is a part of that -- a very important part -- but all aspects of the contestant's image matter. Only those with the "complete package" (or reasonably close to it) are going to do well, and it isn't always (or often) that the best actual singer wins.
So look, style, originality, and the ability to connect with the audience matter. A lot. A contestant who comes across as "so gay" has an image problem, and that's going to hurt them in the "marketing" aspect of the competition (and in their future singing career, if any) even if they are the best singer from a purely objective basis.
I just want to take a sledge harmmer to that guy, or gal, or whatever it is.
Everything old is new again! ;-)
That’s your next American Idol, right thre!
ROFL!
That is so wrong on so many levels!!!!!
In the end it's the difference between britney spears who doesn't have the chops or Christina Agiuilara who will be around much longer.
I remember liking Scott’s voice but wasn’t overwhelmed. His handicap may in fact get him into the top 12, we will see.
