Details emerge on Jett Travolta's death

John Travolta, Kelly Preston and their children Jett and Ella Bleu, leave an airport in Rome.

John Travolta's lawyers -- who are close family friends -- reveal that Jett may have died in his father's arms Friday.

Us: How is John doing?

-snip- "John and Kelly are suffering total misery. They were so close to their son. This is hard to accept.

-snip-

Us: Have John and Kelly spent time with anyone since everyone arrived?

Ossi and McDermott: "John and Kelly have been pretty much locked away.

"We are staying here until John leaves. The autopsy should be on Monday.

-snip-

Us: It's been reported that Jett was left alone for several hours before being discovered. Can you clarify the timeline?

Ossi and McDermott: "Jett was not left alone. He had a nanny present at all times. The nanny was sleeping close to Jett's room. There was a baby monitor, a chime on the door so it was known when Jett was going in and out. He was completely supervised. The nanny found him.

Us: Is it true that Jett died in John's arms?

Ossi and McDermott: "Jett may have still been alive when John administered CPR, and then the EMT took over. Jett was pronounced dead at the hospital. I like to believe John had a chance to say goodbye. He may have died in his dad's arms. I am not certain."

Us: It's been said Jett had a history of seizures. How often did he have them?

Ossi and McDermott: "I am not confident to talk about that. I know he had a history, which of course warranted the extra attention."

-snip-

With explosives and the like.

Total assumption on your part.

Not everyone follows their religeon to a T.

Brooke Shields is a perfect example of someone who felt the need to take anti depressants post partum and that is not cool with the teaching of Scientology.

Excuse me but didn't you just validate the point I made? Didn't I say Scientology might have contributed to the death?

And I thought the left was a hateful bunch! The death of a child is no time to attack one’s religion.

I'm a member of the Universal Unitarian church, It gets attacked all the time here in FR. I don't even respond anymore.

RIP Jett

Then the subtle attacks about being in an “intact family”, that’s right.

Yes, yes. They have all the answers, but never peer through the glass darkly.

Don't let the bastards get you down.

Travolta is probably gay and like so many others in Hollywood before him...

1. You do realize, I hope, that in many cultures straight men kissing on the lips is highly acceptable. Hello greetings, goodbyes, and other occasions. Kissing, in and of itself, is not proof of homosexuality.

2. What on earth does this have to do with the tragedy of his son's death?

3. Cruel, intolerant attitudes like that demonstrated in your posts are what give conservatism a bad name in this country.

“......It is believed Jett Travolta was autistic. Scientology does not believe autism exists, hence, he would not have been treated for it.”

There are hundreds of root causes for siezures, so Travolta could be 100% correct.

As I mention before my son has had four brain sugeries, the cause of his original siezures was a dysplasia, twice brain tissue was removed, the siezures continue. And they change characteristic over time, with different meds.

For all I know the original cause could have been removed and they continue due to the brain surgeries to correct the orignal problem. The brain is complex and just probing around can be harmful.

I know you all want a simple reason but even after an autopsy is conducted the EXACT cause may never be known - deal with it.

I’m 100% sure his family is.

Report: Conflict in Timeline of Events in Jett Travolta Death

Sunday, January 04, 2009

Conflicting reports have emerged over the timeline of events leading up to the death of actor John Travolta’s 16-year-old son Jett.

Police forces in the Bahamas say that Jett was left unattended for more than 10 hours — a claim which the Travolta camp is vehemently denying — according to TMZ.com.

“With lots of emotion that goes through a family in a time like this, it’s understandable to come to your own ideas or terms, but we have an obligation to assure and convey with our public that the information we give is solid. The investigation is ongoing, but we stand by what we have said,” police in the Bahamas told TMZ on Sunday.

Did you not read my post that said whether or not he was gay didn’t matter EXCEPT as it relates to the way Scientology is known to pair up gays with beards.

By the way, last time I looked, John Travolta was a US citizen, of the American culture...and that is not how men kiss each other...but perhaps it is the way the Scientologists kiss each other.

it is not just the kiss I was referencing..in case you haven’t heard..there have been long standing rumors that he is gay.

And yes I’m when my son eventually passes on (a lot of folks on long term anti-siezure medicine cocktails usually die from a sudden heart attack) we’ll face the same idiots Travolta and his family are facing now. I say lay off the guy and his family.

Thank you for your post. My heart goes out to your son and your entire family. The intolerance and downright cruelty one sees on this thread and, all too often, elsewhere on FR these days, illustrates why so many people in the general public are repulsed by conservatives.

My older sister had seizures her whole life. Her earliest memories, she simply referred to them as “afraid spells.” They became worse at puberty. She would go though periods of near control while on ungodly amounts of medication. She has totaled 3 cars. Finally at 25, she had the “lesion” in her brain removed. The surgery successfully eliminated the seizures. BUT, she has personality disorders that have prohibited her from socializing well, or enabled her to hold down a job. Her disorders seem minor, but they are really quite debilitating. It has been a very long, hard road for our family. Doesn’t change one iota how much we love her, even though she can be very difficult to like.

McDermott said that the blind allegations that because Preston and Travolta are Scientologists they refused to administer anti-seizure medication to Jett, are false.

“They gave him an anti-seizure medication Depakote for over a year,” McDermott told RADAR. “It extended the seizures out to over 21 days. But ultimately the attacks got closer and closer, they had to give more and more medication, and it started to cause organ damage so they stopped.

Travolta Release Statement On Their Son’s Death
John Travolta and Kelly Preston have released a statement on the passing of son Jett:

“We would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who has sent their love and condolences. Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered. We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives. We have received many messages of condolence from around the world and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and support. It has meant so much to us. It is a beautiful reminder of the inherent goodness in the human spirit that gives us a hope for a brighter future.”

With love,
John, Kelly and Ella

Oh, I read it, word for repulsive word. The fact is that YOU chose to make an issue of the man's sexualtiy on a thread having to do with the death of his son. That speaks volumes for who you are as a person.

Lev.20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.

I know you all want a simple reason but even after an autopsy is conducted the EXACT cause may never be known - deal with it.

That's why I said in my original post that the "possibility" exists that that Travolta's Scientology beliefs might have contributed to the death.

I didn't say there was a "simple reason."

You are either dumber than a stump or disingenuous (feigning ignorance) about this particular matter. The issue here is not homosexuality and whether or not conservatives oppose it. The issue is that you chose the occasion of the tragic death of a 16-year-old kid to raise the question of his father's sexuality. Your act is repulsive and cruel, and is an example of why so many people are repulsed by conservatives.
