Details emerge on Jett Travolta's death

John Travolta, Kelly Preston and their children Jett and Ella Bleu, leave an airport in Rome.

John Travolta's lawyers -- who are close family friends -- reveal that Jett may have died in his father's arms Friday.

Us: How is John doing?

-snip- "John and Kelly are suffering total misery. They were so close to their son. This is hard to accept.

-snip-

Us: Have John and Kelly spent time with anyone since everyone arrived?

Ossi and McDermott: "John and Kelly have been pretty much locked away.

"We are staying here until John leaves. The autopsy should be on Monday.

-snip-

Us: It's been reported that Jett was left alone for several hours before being discovered. Can you clarify the timeline?

Ossi and McDermott: "Jett was not left alone. He had a nanny present at all times. The nanny was sleeping close to Jett's room. There was a baby monitor, a chime on the door so it was known when Jett was going in and out. He was completely supervised. The nanny found him.

Us: Is it true that Jett died in John's arms?

Ossi and McDermott: "Jett may have still been alive when John administered CPR, and then the EMT took over. Jett was pronounced dead at the hospital. I like to believe John had a chance to say goodbye. He may have died in his dad's arms. I am not certain."

Us: It's been said Jett had a history of seizures. How often did he have them?

Ossi and McDermott: "I am not confident to talk about that. I know he had a history, which of course warranted the extra attention."

-snip-

This is not intended to be flame bait, he and his family has my complete condolences in this but I just can’t help but wonder -

His son has a history of seizures, and he is very active in his religion. Does he share Tom Cruises’s feelings of non-medication and instead rely on Scientology’s beliefs?

At that point in a persons life, faith is tested seriously. And, if your faith—no matter what it is—helps you through it, then go for it.

Oh please.

Scientology probably has them putting the kid in a can and firing him into space.

Aliens will then pick him up and make a God of him.

Honestly, all faiths are not equal. Some are just nuts.

Kelly is a big promoter of the detox program.

http://spiritualbeing.wordpress.com/2007/06/03/john-travolta-says-narconon-is-the-best-drug-rehab-program/

And Narconon...that uses large doses of Niacin..which can cause liver damage.

Pffft. I have absolutely no idea. I lived in So Cal for a long time and I knew some Scientologists and did business with them. Honestly, I have no axe to grind with these people. They were clean, honest, and law abiding.

I know they are opposed to the psychological practice of drugging school children, and on that one, I am in complete agreement.

No one should have to bury their children. But for our grandparents and great-grandparents, it was a too common occurrence.

And I thought the left was a hateful bunch! The death of a child is no time to attack one’s religion.

It’s all relative. Christians think that the devil possesses a body and the Scientologists think it is the Thetans.

Uh, actually, I know enough about it to know that's wrong.

Yes, it is if it contributed to the death. This remains to be seen. There are many that think criminal charges should have been levied against the Travoltas. (prior to his death)

People don’t get a pass from me just because someone died or is dying. If that makes me hateful so be it.

Travolta's personal life and choices haven't made me a fan, but I hurt for him and for his family when reading about the tragedy of their loss. No parent should have to bury a son or daughter and I hope that they can find some peace and are able to come to terms with such a loss. It is said that God never gives us or burdens us with more than we can handle, but this must be one of the ultimate tests.

How so?

It is believed Jett Travolta was autistic. Scientology does not believe autism exists, hence, he would not have been treated for it.

Autism, Puberty, and the Possibility of Seizures

Written by Stephen M. Edelson, Ph.D.

About one in four autistic individuals begin to have seizures during puberty. The exact reason for the onset of seizures is not known, but it is likely that the seizure activity may be due to hormonal changes in the body. Sometimes these seizures are noticeable, (i.e., associated with convulsions); but for many, they are small, subclinical seizures, and are typically not detected by simple observation.

Some possible signs of subclinical seizure activity include:

- exhibiting behavior problems, such as aggression, self-injury, and severe tantrumming;

- making little or no academic gains after doing well during childhood and pre-teen years;

- and/or losing some behavioral and/or cognitive gains.

Perhaps.

I'd opt for the view that wasn't recently thought up by a science fiction writer.

But that's just me.

My 21 year old son has epilepsy.

His seizures started right after Sept 11, 2001. They continue to this day.

He lives at home and basically lives the live of a hermit but that’s his choice - he refuses to be put in a home. He graduated in the top 10% of his class, needs a wheelchair if he is out & about for extended periods.

After his first siezure he was interviewed numerous times in private about whether my wife, I, or any other relative may have abused him.

This goes on every time a new medical team or social worker is involved.

Then the subtle attacks about being in an “intact family”, that’s right. Somehow it’s unusual to 90% of the social workers out there.

He has had four brain surgeries, and a fifth to plant a pacemaker like device in his vagal nerve located in his neck which they snaked up through his armpit. It helps but in case of a severe attack someone else has to activate it for him. He has up to twenty siezures a day, mostly mild but some can be quite severe (even with meds).

He has been on every anti - siezure medicine known to man, that and in every combination possible. They work, then they don’t, then another combo is tried. That’s why it is called a medical practice. Trial & error.

Though they can dice up (doctor’s words) his frontal lobe to prevent the siezures from travelling across the brain but he won’t have the same personalty he has now - think One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest, etc.

Everyone in the family, immediate & extended helps out - I have to be in the bathroom anytime he showers, I have to walk up and down the stairs anytime he goes up or down them.

Yet he has to live like the rest of us and he isn’t supervised 100% of the time 24/7 nor was he in any of the hospitals he has been in - it’s damned near impossible and from his point of view unwanted.

And yes I’m when my son eventually passes on (a lot of folks on long term anti-siezure medicine cocktails usually die from a sudden heart attack) we’ll face the same idiots Travolta and his family are facing now.

I say lay off the guy and his family.
