Good evening. As Arctic temps and snow grip much of the country, I pray for all those who travel and have to spend time outside.
Also remember the many affected by the economic woes this season...anecdotal stories we're all hearing bring the statistics to life, and add a somber theme to the time which is usually so joyful.
We’re on the nippy side ourselves. It’s 21 right now with an expected high of 42. But the skies should be clear for candy making.
Good Morning. clear skies here, too,,, but without the cloudcover, it makes it all that much colder.
It’s bitter out there, but I don’t hear the wind blowing.
Not yet for some districts.
JT just got off guard duty and I’m “chatting” with him now. BBL
I convinced him by making steak and eggs. Ha! The steak was leftover from last night so preparation was simple.
Hi to JT and his buddies!
Leftovers. I love leftovers. Calories have a half-life in leftovers.
Hi All.... I’m just going to lurk here for a while. The far eastern front is all clear.
Good Morning... I am on holiday!!!
My daughter still has a few days of school. (our local district... they can't seem to figure out calendars.)
- 10 at the moment. I will take my daughter to school and then hit morning Mass.
Our family helped set up the manger scene yesterday after church. Daughter Kathryn always places the baby Jesus in the manger. She always puts a piece of hay in his hand to see if anyone moves it. Over the years that piece of hay hasn't moved. (She checks in religiously... no pun intended!)
Thanks for all you do!
Its bitter out there, but I dont hear the wind blowing.
Do you hear what I hear?
Great to see you here!!!
Giant HUGS from your Cyber Auntie!!
God Bless you and your buddies. And thank you for your service.
Steak and eggs?! You finnished all the steak and eggs! I guess I’ll just have to settle for an omlete from the chow hall.
Thanks IG. I’ll make sure I keep my head down over here. Thanks for the hugs.
Yes! I hear it!!
It's already warmer than it was yesterday! While we were out shopping it was -4 with a horrid wind. It is currently 2 degrees, with no wind, and it's suppose to be in the 20's (with 80% chance of MORE snow) tomorrow.
I have a friend in Minneapolis who wears a button on her coat all winter long,,, it says: "-10 keeps the Riff-Raff Out"
In Minneapolis, during the cruel month of January, some secretaries were watching some high rise construction workers working in frigid winter conditions. They put together a sign and held it up for the construction workers to see. The sign said:
It's 76 degrees in here!
The workers saw the sign and made one of their own. Their's read:
It's $60.00 an hour out here!
Merry Christmas
Ha!
Too funny.
Our colombian friend related a custom they practice over there. When people set up their nativity displays in their homes, their friends come by and take the Baby Jesus. Jesus remains kidnapped until Christmas Eve when the friends return the Baby to the manger and visit with the family from whom they stole it in the first place. The point is that Jesus doesn’t show up in the manger until His birth so it is right to have an empty manger. Everyone enjoys the company and it makes the season a little gayer.
After telling that at our Bible study group, the kids of the families enjoyed that custom. They surprised more than one family who, not being in our Bible study, hadn’t heard of the tradition. LOL! Many phone calls and explanations were made that year!
Got to tell you, it is COLD here this morning (without snow) and how nice it would be for the kids if it were to snow. TJ is steady looking out the window up to the sky, Caleb is just like getting into everything, GD is in the world now, ‘somebody told her the truth (13 now so I ‘spect’ it was time (sure, right, she did not know, one each long loud laugh) and I was only told last year that ‘you know what’, felt like being shot with arrows.
As soon as the sun comes up got to go to the wood pile and get a load of wood, cold again tonight but then warm up for the rest of the week, could change of course. One thing I am going to have to do is split some more wood, got be a gas wood splitter so it is really not work.
The rooster were crowing, all three of them, a while ago and then all heck broke out, looked out and all three were fighting each other, just out my front door. Oh the life of a ‘farmer’, never a dull moment.
Gosh, didn’t know my mind would work so early in the A.M. and time to give it a rest.
To you lysie, to all of my cyber space neighbors, you all give me so much pleasure and joy, thank you.
Toby
