I took the picture of this picture at Dave & Busters in Houston. It was in one of their banquet rooms along with many other stock, nostalgic pictures of New York.
Is this some kind of composite fake? Is she in a dirigible of some sort (unlikely)? Is she standing above a giant diorama? A scene from a movie?
If it's a total fake, it was totally out of place among the other pictures. I'm just curious if this picture has a story on the interwebs. My search attempts have been fruitless so far.
Any thoughts on this? Your help in determining the story that goes with this picture would be much appreciated.
is she standing on the outside of the statue of liberty torch and that is nyc in the below background..??...if so its a strange angle....anyone else...??
I wouldn’t call it a composite ‘fake’ per say, more like a composite artistic interpretation.
I'm just sayin'...
Angle is wrong and too high up to be Statue of Liberty.
I’d have to say it must be from one of those dirigibles like the Hindenberg that took passengers, but damn that’s a dangerous looking outside platform for passengers.
It’s Caroline Kennedy, surveying her domain.
I don't know, the clothes look to modern than those from the '30s. JMHO..
First consider the apparent altitude she's at. There's no way her hair and dress would be that still, especially if she were on some sort of aircraft. Plus, she's dressed inappropriately for being in the open air at that altitude.
Second, compare the angle of the woman's shadow, to the angle of the buildings' shadows to her left. The shadows are pointing in two different directions.
Looks like the World Trade Center towers are in the picture. There wouldn’t have been a dirigible flying over NYC during their time would there?
Where's the Meclizine?
the angle was my problem with it but thought maybe just maybe someone caught it just right....and you may be right about the height too...i have never been on the torch so i wouldn’t know....
Am I correct in guessing you’ve asked the fine people at Dave & Busters about it?
Not that I expect anyone below manager to know anything, but it seems like a good place to start before searching the interwebs.
It has to be a trick or a movie set or diorama. She is WAY high up. Also, it can’t be that old or nostalgic because you can see the WTC towers below her. Strange.
Taken from a zeppelin.
New York 1920’s?
Not a German one I think. Go here and take a look and the picture gallery.

What era were the other pictures from?
This one appears to be black and white, with some light blue overtones. That alone makes it look like a composite.
But, the aerial view could not have been taken before 1970-1971, because you can clearly see the twin towers of the World Trade Center.
That is quite an altitude in comparison to be from the Statue of Liberty.
Can one of you guys put Tourist Guy next to her?
