Shortly after Mitsuo Fuchida led the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, he discovered just how fortunate he was to be living.
Along with the 21 holes that visibly pocked the 39-year-olds aircraft, a mechanic on the aircraft carrier Akagi found a frayed elevator cable that dangled from Fuchidas reconnaissance bomber by a single thread. If it had been severed, the inevitable crash could have killed the flight commander whose radio message "Tora! Tora! Tora!" was the final go-ahead for the attack that drew the United States into World War II.

He was very lucky to have survived the war. Most involved in the attack did not survive the war.
His story is marvelous. One of my church members went to Japan in the late 80's. She was visiting Christian missionaries. One night at a bible study she was introduced to the leader of this study group and it was Fuchida.
It's quite a story!
I’ll bet he was as humble a Christian as he was honorable a warrior.
I understood it was his last request when the MOVIE MAKERS wanted to do his story, that he wanted to add THE REST OF THE STORY that was denied. He really did embrace the Cause and Message of Jesus Christ.
Thanks for posting this.
I’ve read this before but appreciate your posting it.
Thank-you!

This is a great story. Thanks for the ping.
“I’m guessing this is not an earth shattering surprise but I was not aware that the esteemed Cmdr Fuchida was touched by God. Way cool.”
I had no idea either. Thank you for posting this PeteePie.

If he converted to Judaism, it would be “Torah! Torah! Torah!”
I had never heard this; a truly amazing story.

There is more —Fuchida also witnessed one of the two Atomic bombings —he was flying from one city to another in a transport, by coincidence.
I’m not making that up.
His life was really amazing.
You so funny...
After the war, his co-pilot went to Faber College and partied alot. "Toga! Toga! Toga!"
Thanks for the shout-outs, but it sure took y’all a long time to get the joke.
