Through Lenin’s Cracked Glasses
What has my poor world finally come to
its sadly but really turning into a total zoo
imagine a pirate having to buy health insurance
or Plato swimming up stream in the PC currents
Moses needing a permit for his staff to snake
explaining Manna for the Health Department’s sake
Eve having to explain Able and Cain to all
while the dissenter’s continue to worship Baal
The media hanging everyone with a crown of thorns
who stands up and speaks out that the country’s torn
truth is a variable and spun like a damn gyroscope
and it leans more oft to the left then the right you dope
Class warfare and a socialist social engineering mess
and getting worse enough to revolt I must confess
under taught kids with soundbite minds for years
a sad state of affairs, enough to drive an old vet to tears

In the soft light of a distant dawn I see
upon a whisper of a breeze, I hear
in a quiet heart at peace, no fear
for I now know, that is how it should be
In the silence of that perfect moment
I become one with all, and yet stand alone
with time to find my center, time to atone
a small priceless eternity so well spent

Musings on the Tor
To win or lose and pass away into distant time
perhaps to be captured for while in some old rhyme
While the bones lie deep beneath the stones and lime
and shadows shift as if to tell the story in their mime
Hearts that loved and held a measure of it there
now emptied by the passing years, enough to bear
They lived in all the ways of man with equal care
until the Fates decreed their threads of life to pare
How many times their dreams have we shared
and spent our energy in rapt attention fair
As if they were but only ours and only we did care
in the twining twisted Halls of Time weve dared
The common story of the common clay
ever onward in ways so often heartfelt fey
Who will live our dreams in time to come I say
and will they understand the price we all must pay
Silent rocks and shattered halls of mortal man
in this verdant land where deep fens fan
Where the sound of the wind speaks as they can
of those before to those whom Fate has yet to ban

That is EXACTLY how I feel at twilight. I’m not up at dawn that often and in the city it’s not quiet. But, no matter how much might be going on in the evening, twilight seems to bring with it a blanket of timeless hush.....
Thank you, WJ:)

I'm so sorry you've lost all your pictures, lonestar, and dutchess! I am so happy for you and the new addition to your family. My gosh, she does look like Rusty. Even as happy as the news is, I couldn't help but feel a little sad reading your post and seeing Giz again, with his new little sister. :( Why do our little fur babies have to get old so soon?
