Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Hi anyone,
I heard there’s going to be a Hobbit movie, maybe in two parts. I figure you lot would know and might point at “reputable” links for details &c.
Thanks. Cute cat pics.
What’s ‘hobbit’ Precious?
LOL! SirKit would like that one! He’s not a big fan of Chinese made tools.
We went to Harbor Freight one time... looked at the nail guns and decided they were crap, but we got a cheap tile saw that has worked beautifully for us so far and taught us enough that next time we’ll feel justified in buying a more expensive one, if need be.
But yeah, mostly crap.
With power tools and such, it's almost always Makita, or, as in my supercharged sander, Festool. We found an awesome set of a Makita screwdriver and drill at HD just before Christmas. They're both cordless, and very lightweight. The batteries aren't super powerful, but they charge quickly. They're particularly good for working overhead; your arms don't get so tired. He bought the set for me, but he's the one who's mostly using them.We're waiting for them to go on sale again, so we can get a set for him. ;o)
(snicker)
In the South Pacific:
Boil ‘em, mash ‘em, stick ‘em in a stew.
I got this cordless drill for christmas few years back. A 24! volt black and decker. 24! No one I have seen makes more than 18. Even Black&Decker. I think it must have been a limited run before they redesigned or something. This thing can run for days of HARD use on one charge. I guess they decided they were not going to make any money on replacement batteries and switched back to makeing them 12, 14 or 18 volts. They annoying this is that the battery is ever so slowly starting to fade and I will never be able to find a replacement one.
eh?
Dude....wait, whut?
SirKit does have quite a few other tools from other companies. We like the Dewalt big ole nail gun we call Glamdring. He found a great screw gun on eBay once. Our #2 son called it the 'screw you' gun, and it's been known by that name ever since. It will be great for attaching sublfoor, and roof sheathing. Heavy as heck, but since you're not lifting it much, it doesn't matter.
If you could change ONE plot element from Peter Jackson's LOTR that was either omitted or changed from the the original text, which would you choose?
These were the two top choices.
* The Scouring of the Shire (22%, 2,812 Votes)
* Tom Bombadil (16%, 2,034 Votes)
No. No Bombadil.
Agreed...though I miss the Scouring of the Shire, too.
I was pretty ticked off at what they did to Faramir, as I believe is well documented in the old Hobbit Holes. ;-)
Hi there, welcome!
We’ve all been keeping an eager eye out for Hobbit movie news! This whole gang started as a pack of FReepers who tended to show up on all the threads when the Lord of the Rings movies were about to come out and as they came out. We’ve talked books and movies and movies and books inside out and got to know one another in the process, and these days the conversation goes every which way.
But we’re always happy to discuss all things Tolkien!
Hope you pull up a chair and stay awhile! We’ve been a little on the quiet side lately and could use some new chatter!
What they did to Faramir was bad. What they did to Denethor was a horror!
