The Hobbit Hole XXXVII - ...Down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed!

Posted on 09/25/2008 6:43:34 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I came back up to bvue tonight. Started snowing just as I hit the road a few hours ago. Was kinda mixed at first but it’s snowing hard now. Only an inch or so yet, but it’s coming down like it means it. They’re saying it won’t stay through tomorrow. But “they” are not always right.

No winds here.

We’ll see what we’ve got in the morning.

We’re rattling around in the house wondering if we should go out to the storm trailer... We moved the trucks out. We’re spooked and unsure. We ought to be able to handle winds in the 20s, but some of these gusts feel stronger. Part of the problem is there are a lot of broken and half broken branches from the snows hung up in the trees and they are blowing loose in the gusts and hitting the house. And now the roof is totally clean so even the little ones are loud and roll and slide around quite a bit. It’s unnerving. I hope we don’t lose power.

Homer is in a complete tiz.

I want spring!

Well... if you’d be more relaxed in the storm trailer... that’s what it’s for. :-)

It’s not like it costs extra to use it more times. :-)

It sure feels like some of these gusts are stronger than 20s. And it’s not coming from a good direction for me, anyway...seems to be hitting me broadside. Windows are rattling and the plastic I put over some of ‘em at the beginning of the winter has been blown loose.

You’re right, but it is giving up TV, and internet, and we hate to do that if we’re not sure it’s necessary. We’ll go out there and not have a whole lot to do.

We shouldn’t lose trees, just branches, in this. That’s what we keep saying... it’s just branches.

Power may go out though, we’ve had some flickers.

Well, I think it’s settled down considerably, just letting you know that so far, we’re still here and still have power and we’re going to bed... in the house.

I make mine absolutely plain, though...with just lye water and Crisco.

That sounds to me like something I would want to wash off of me with soap. ;~)

Good morning everyone. - Wind continued to calm down through the night once we went to bed. Horses came back in, all is well. Once it shifts around to SSW or WSW, we stop feeling it, I think because of the black hills.

I lost my Betta fish too around Christmas. Had him in with my goldfish. It’s a hard world for the little things.

Yeah, I walked into the office last night, smelled something and sent Luke to the bathroom. I just figured out this morning it was the fish. :-)

He wasn’t floating which is why I didn’t notice him last night.

Two years for us. That’s pretty good for a fish. Luke doesn’t know yet.

He was a good fish.

Mine, I hadn’t had that long... he just failed to thrive here for whatever reason.

Two years is a pretty good run for a betta fish!

Mine (work and home) have only just passed the one year mark.
