Dr. Laura just gave a scathing speech about Palin
Radio | September 2, 2008 | Hildy

Posted on 09/02/2008 12:49:47 PM PDT by Hildy

I'm sick to my stomach. Although I knew she was going to have to do this..she does take a point of view and she does stick to it, I'm still just sick to my stomach. And for those here who dismiss this woman, you couldn't be more wrong..her books sell like wildfire, her shows sell out and alot of women take what she says as the gospel.

She did say she would still vote for McCain, but she said she wished there was a third party to vote for.

And for those of you who want to attack me for reporting this here, please, please direct your anger elsewhere. I'm not the problem.

I'll post the blog when she uploads it. It's not there yet, but she said on her show she' put it up.

I can only speculate she’s upset that SHE wasn’t asked!

This reminds me of when James Dobson tanked Fred.

Even James Dobson supports Palin!

Wow, that was sufficiently vague.

Comparing her relevance to Rush is silly.

Dr. Laura sucks! (Sorry, I couldn’t think of anything more subtle on the spur of the moment.)

She has a HUGE influence, a la Rush.

This just seems to fly in the face of so much she has said, like how she purposely does not meddle where she hasn’t been asked.

I can’t for the life of me figure out why she’s inserted herself like this, knowing what’s at stake in this election. I’m genuinely flummoxed because she is usually so right.

This is an enormous disappointment. I think it will cost her.

I’m stunned - couldn’t the Republican Party find one competent female with adult children to run for Vice President with McCain?
- dr L.

Now I would state it a little differently, couldn’t the Republican Party find one competent female?

Maybe, but if McCain wanted someone with executive experience, that meant a Governor or the military. And Palin was probably the only conservative woman governor out there.
The field is only 50 to choose from, unless your obambi then its 57.

Of course there were some other options:

The first woman to head Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego took command today. Brig. Gen. Angela Salinas, who has 32 years in service, took the reins from Maj. Gen. John Paxton Jr., who was named commander of the Camp Pendleton, Calif.-based 1st Marine Division and received his third star today.

You know, Dr. Laura’s comments are substantially moot, because after all is said and done, she is by her own admission, still voting for McCain-Palin!

Does that make sense? Trash her priorities, yet vote for her anyway?

I’ve never understood the point of asking Dr. Laura anything. You already know the answer.

look, the more you listen to this Dr. Laura, the more you will understand that she is nothing but a mean, hateful woman who must have something up her backside since she is always so irritable and cruel to so many callers......

the Dr. Lauras' of the world would rather girls abort their babies then actually carry them to birth....and the girl that gets pregnant and aborts it so nobody knows....well, she's the "good" girl....

and nothing to say about the fathers of these babies either....

whats common place today is sadly, not very good for our society in general.....

but having a baby is NEVER a tragedy....the tragedy is that the young woman and maybe the young man will have to alter many life plans, like education, adventure, socialization........

but how many freepers got pregnant, or impregnated, were very young, and got married and managed quite nicely, thank you....

personally, I could care less about her pictures.....I believe people are redeemable and we certainly should be big enough people to forgive.....

but DR. L. is an ongoing barrage of hate filled belittlement, accomplishing nothing except making some poor schmucks feel worse about themselves....

I think this is an interesting situation for discussion.

Leaving aside emotion here for a minute, and the particular issue of Palin personally, how is she being judgmental? I mean in a pejorative sense? The first definition of the word judgmental is “of, relating to, or involving judgment”.

What I see, right or wrong (and I believe mostly right), is a person who has a principled, defensible position, and is maintaining consistency - in much the same way Sarah Palin did when she had Trig.

Now, if the husband is going to quit his job during their term in office to care for the young children that changes things entirely, but otherwise I am not sure I disagree completely with Dr. Laura.

Dr. Laura couldn't possibly be more wrong.

I don't disagree with her advocacy of mothers staying home with children. But she is missing the point. I'm sure that my greatest accomplishment in life was the rearing of my two children-- which I did mostly as a single parent, BTW.

But Sarah Palin IS extraordinary. Of course she leads an extraordinary life.

Palin's gifts to the larger world will far exceed a five-child head count. And the world really needs her.
