Dr. Laura just gave a scathing speech about Palin
Radio | September 2, 2008 | Hildy

Posted on 09/02/2008 12:49:47 PM PDT by Hildy

I'm sick to my stomach. Although I knew she was going to have to do this..she does take a point of view and she does stick to it, I'm still just sick to my stomach. And for those here who dismiss this woman, you couldn't be more wrong..her books sell like wildfire, her shows sell out and alot of women take what she says as the gospel.

She did say she would still vote for McCain, but she said she wished there was a third party to vote for.

And for those of you who want to attack me for reporting this here, please, please direct your anger elsewhere. I'm not the problem.

I'll post the blog when she uploads it. It's not there yet, but she said on her show she' put it up.

To RAISE them means being there. Mr. Mom apparently didn’t have enough time nor did Mom.

Nothing like absolutes. Mind posting the logs showing the amount of time the Palins spend with their kids?

Don’t need to. BOTH work. Mr. Mom has a less demanding role so it is safe to assume he’s there more often than Mom.

‘Being there’ is certainly critical, and it makes the important parts MUCH EASIER - but in and of itself, it’s not nearly enough. If that were the case, churched families with stay-at-home moms wouldn’t have NEARLY the issues they do. (Not to mention that would mean that all currently single-for-whatever-reason working moms would be automatically condemned to raising miscreants, with no hope of countering it.)

Yes, it is all about being there. Do you really believe that others raising the children of others are more effective? If yes, then explain why kids cry and are angry when dropped off at daycare and ask them why they HATE it there. The early years are so important and then comes the TEEN years which are also more challenging ... . I don’t codnemd the single working Mom but you have to admit it is NOT the ideal and this VP wasn’t forced to work full time.

I recommend this book...I think you’ll find that the reasons Christian kids have troubles go much deeper than simply measuring the amount of time they spend with someone standing over them.

I don’t need book recomendations. I have yet to see “Christian kids” as being more “troubled”. Studies indicate the opposite. I’m sure you mean well ... it’s just that role reversal, Mom working and not putting her kids FIRST are NOT our family values nor do they align with out Biblical beliefs. Our beliefs are those of being selfLESS when it comes to raising our kids.

Dr. Laura idolizes children. To her, adults should live their lives dedicated to children, children should be the focal point of every decision.

Sorry, gotta disagree with that.

Living life revolving around your kids teaches them that adults SHOULD live their lives revolving around them.

And life don’t work like that!

But what about her own nude pix scandal a few years ago?

Yes, photos taken back in her Godless, liberal days.

Dr. Laura has her point of view and you'll never shake her from it (didn't hear this one) and Palin has her point of view and you won't shake her either. They both have their principles.

As a matter of fact, in earlier western societies they were more common than you would think

I disagree. My neighbor who is 88 years old was a principal of our local high school back in the late 50's to mid 70's.

He said yes girls getting pregnant back then happened but it was extremely rare.

Our town has the same population as it did back then and today the HS has a day care center.

This is liberal gobbity gook that this has happened to the degree it does today. A way of making an excuse for being immoral.

Be sure to read the comments after the pics if you really want to know what people really think about the situation.

It’s being minimized as no big deal. If it were the Dems, you’d hear all kinds of insults.

I agree. No wonder the republican party is going down the tubes.

LOOK AT HOW “conservatives” are applauding LEFTIST VALUES!

It's hard to believe but look at this thread.

You'd think “traditional values” was an abomination. You'd think Mom actually being selfless and taking pride in raising her own kids was beneath her. You'd think that guys want to be Mr. Mom cause Mom's out there “making a difference”. Yeah, her absence at home did make a difference. Stll you have people applauding this - even leaving a newborn at home ... with special needs. Just the fact that you didn't abort it doesn't mean you should put yourself FIRST.

Dr. Laura is a half-wit. She changes perspectives the way Bill Clinton changes interns. Yes, she takes the verbal whip to a number of losers who call into her show, but she not only rushes to her conclusions, she does so without thinking.

people feel differently about working, opinions can vary and no one opinion is RIGHT or WRONG. i am a lawyer. i worked part time while my kids were young, while my best friend— another lawyer— stayed home and watched mine along with her’s. i feel it was the optimum situation for both of us. she needed the money to help make ends meet at her house, and my kids had their godmother and her kids to play with for a few hours 3 days per week. i don’t judge others and what they choose to do, because everyone’s situation is different.

Today both parents have to work to have cars, a house and a vacation every other year.

I'm sorry, but that's no more accurate than the statement about women without careers' being unwelcome on FR or in the GOP. I have many FRiends whose families have one income, some of them with even more children than my 8.

One of my standards as a conservative is to avoid "have to" statements. People make choices all the time, based on their personal values. Imagining that one is a helpless victim of circumstance, rather than a conscious agent, is not a recipe for sound mental health, good relationships, or political wisdom, in my opinion.

That’s the same rant she’s doing on Palin:

“I’m stunned - couldn’t the Republican Party find one competent female with adult children to run for Vice President with McCain? I realize his advisors probably didn’t want a “mature” woman, as the Democrats keep harping on his age. But really, what kind of role model is a woman whose fifth child was recently born with a serious issue, Down Syndrome, and then goes back to the job of Governor within days of the birth?”

I am certain that is the way he personally remembers it... However, it was almost always the case that the girl quit school or "moved somewhere"! It has only been in recent decades that pregnant girls WERE EVEN ALLOWED TO ATTEND SCHOOL IN THE VAST MAJORITY OF SCHOOL DISTRICTS!
