Can someone help?
Yeah, roger that. The one about traditions as a guide, and the one about raising kids to the standards of society are two that come to mind as problematic. The society's standards question, in particular irked me, because -- as a parent -- I'd certainly like to raise my kids to standards FAR above those held by "society", but it's implicit in the wording of the question that the author feels society sets the bar for standards; a laughable notion, if ever there were one.
Probably. Some of the questions seemed guided by underlying misundertanding about what drives adherence to socially conservative positions.
Yes, those were two that didn’t have an answer I liked. There were also some that said, “Does it bother you ... (something)?” to which my answer is, “It doesn’t *bother* me if other people do things I think are hawg-stupid, but that doesn’t keep them from being stupid.”
With Sion, you never know.
There were many, “maybe, but under what circumstances?” questions on social issues.
Yes, you’re right. Oh, well :-).
Planning to watch the debate tonight? My husband is taking me out to dinner; I guess he has gas in the truck still.
Watching political debates on a Friday night....I think I’ll pass.
You still don’t have gasoline there?
What’s causing this shortage?
Where are you going for dinner?
Bringing the kids?
Yes, we are going to watch the debate....what time does it start?
You're kidding, right?

This is a live debate thread that just went up. If there was a previous one, the Mods will will point everyone to it. I expect it to start pretty late, EST, maybe 9:00.
We’re going to “Alladin’s” for Lebanese food. It used to be a sub sandwich shop, and I think the same people are running it, because they sold baklava at the sub shop :-). The waitress looked familiar, too. We’ve been there once before since the change, and it was great. First time I’d had a falafel sandwich since I was in Amsterdam in 2003.
The gas shortage seems to be a regional delivery issue, complicated by some temporary refinery closings and panic-buying. The stations are getting gas, but it sells out pretty early in the day. Rrrod, who’s an old oil industry guy, says it should sort out in a couple of weeks at most. Inconvenient, though. I may have to get up at 0400 early next week to refill the purple car to get Anoreth to school.
No shortages here, and the prices are falling again. Only three-fifty ... woo hoo.
Huh? Nope, home in the Great Pacific Northwet for some 42-odd hours now.
Thailand's not in my travel plans, short or long-term, though it could happen. Right now I'm trying to make plans for a speaking tour from D.C. area down to South Carolina this February. (Aiiiieeeee -- my American boss is delighted!) If I can keep it from conflicting with my meeting near Cologne about th same time, it'll be fine.
Just over an hour from now. I may go watch it it with LoM...
If it’s not really exciting, I’ll go to bed with my new biography of Charles de Gaulle.
I’ll probably be up in Seattle the week after next
Goof morning. The rain seems to have stopped, but it’s not light yet. I need to leave for the parade at 8:00. Maybe I’ll leave early and try to get gas in the Purple Thing ... but that means I need to roust the grilz right now.
Hello? Is everyone waiting in line for gas, or sleeping in with Charles de Gaulle.
It rained on us at the parade, but oh well. There was some people out anyway. Pat was very excited about being in his first parade. The Cub Scouts got to ride on a flatbed trailer, but the Girl Scouts had to walk. My foot hurts! Now I have to drive Bill and Tom over to the park to work at the fair that’s going on today. And I need to get some bell peppers to make the Chickpea Dish later.
Maybe I’ll find gas without waiting in line (ha ha!).
Whoa.
That’s scary. I spend the night with a friend and come home to find the REAL UT in place of the one I left.
*mumble-mumble-mumble*
This has been a truly bizarre month. And there are still several days left!
TOO bizarre!
