Ellen DeGeneres will reportedly marry her long-time Australian lover Portia de Rossi in California this weekend.

The couple are expected to wed in an intimate ceremony with only a few close friends and family, Usmagazine.com reports.

DeGeneres, a successful comedian who now hosts a popular daytime talkshow, and 35-year-old de Rossi began dating in December 2004.

Following the California Supreme Court's ruling that same sex couple's had the "right to marry," DeGeneres announced on her show in May that she and de Rossi would marry.

That’s funny. I wonder if NBC will preempt the Olympics
for the ceremony?

Marry? Please. Their "marriage" has about as much to do with reality as the "man" who recently gave birth.

This is all the ridiculous delusion of the mentally ill super-rich. And there is nothing new under the sun:

From Suetonius -- Lives of the 12 Caesars
"He [Nero] castrated the boy Sporus and actually tried to make a woman of him; and he married him with all the usual ceremonies, including a dowry and a bridal veil, took him to his house attended by a great throng, and treated him as his wife. And the witty jest that someone made is still current, that it would have been well for the world if Nero's father Domitius had had that kind of wife. This Sporus, decked out with the finery of the empresses and riding in a litter, he took with him to the assizes and marts of Greece, and later at Rome through the Street of the Images, fondly kissing him from time to time."

As much as I support GAYS (have 2 friends who are gay), I - and my friends - do not support MARRIAGE!! Marriage should be between a man and a women, but I do believe they should have rights like a couple should - including adoption of older kids.

Isn’t that precious? What will the bride be wearing? Britches? And how about the ... other bride? More britches?

... - including adoption of older kids.

Why just older kids? Are they past the age of adverse influence? And what do you mean by 'older.'

Well, same-sex couples had many of the rights of married couples under the law in Calif. before the marriage lawsuit. Calif’s domestic partner law was one of the most far-reaching laws for same-sex couples of any state. But the gay activists weren’t happy with that, they wanted the title “marriage”.

I think it’s really strange how things evolve. In 1997 when the Calif. domestic partner law originated, gays were very happy with it. And additional rights were added to the ‘97 law over the years, and gays were happy with those changes. But then in 2004, all of a sudden, gays were angry that they weren’t allowed to get “married”. The Mass. court ruling in late 2003 led gays to believe that marriage was a civil right. Gavin Newsom decided gays should marry in S.F. which led to this year’s landmark court ruling on the subject.

I just think that if changes with the legal status of gay relationship had come about based on legislative changes rather than forcing it through the courts, the status of gay rights would not be so controversial.

Ellen never wears a dress or a skirt.

In fact Ellen is very mannish in her demeanor and mannerisms.

I’d bet money they are divorced by this time next year.

I'll bet Portia de Rossi is married to a man within two years.

interesting

civil unions I believe you are referring too
I do have a question please
If homosexuals get this civil unions then should normal straight couples get it too

for instance my brother in law has been with a girl for years, have a kid together but they do not get civil unions
should they too?

at the moment straight normal couples are being discriminated against
not having a go at you but I hope you see my point

you think homosexuals should adopt kids
why so they can tell those kids about how unnatural they are,

I come from a foster home , never had a mum and dad but always wished I did

I wanted a dad to teach me about being a boy, sports, going out with girls etc

I wanted a mother for love, comfort etc

How on earth can two men tell a little girl what she will feel going through puberty, they cannot nor can they tell her about how she will feel when she meets aboy etc etc etc and vica versa

a child needs a mother and father not two mums or two dads, it is wrong
