What was the *First Car* you ever had?
Vanity | July 17th, 2008 | Raineygoodyear

And do you remember what you paid for gas at that time?

My first car was a 1972 Pontiac Parisienne my dad gave to me in 1975, I have no idea how much I paid for gas but I do remember driving it for weeks without having to stop and put gas in it..

1969 Dodge Dart. During the gas “crisis” of the seventies, I borrowed a friend’s 1968 Plymouth Fury (formerly a cop-car) to drive from Fredonia to Jamestown, NY and back. As a courtesy, I filled up the tank and watched with horror as the total came to $8.00.

Of course, I made $1.35 an hour in those days.

Not the first car I actually owned, but I learned to drive in a 62 Corvair.

I love it! My first was a 74 Malibu Classic. Loved that car. It was the only car I ever owned with bench seat in the front, miss it.

Mine had White Vinyl “Swivel” Bucket Seats, I miss that car so much. My Idiot friend killed it on the 405 in LA.

1947 Ford Flathead V-8 in 1951. Gas mileage - never thought to check - seldom filled up anyway. Gas? less than $.30/gallon.

My Malibu had a 350ci , and your buddies mom should have waited a couple of years, because if memory serves the 77 Cutlass had a 402, That Cutlass would kick my a$$ every time LOL!

But back to the swivel seats, I always wondered what engineer thought of them...Hmmm

1970 something Ford Fairlane. It had dirt with grass growing in the back floor board. Cost 200.00. I loved that car. Still have it. It was a standard with shift on the column. I have never owned an automatic. I love standard shifting.

A 1950 Chevrolet two door sedan with Chevy’s first Power Glide automatic. I paid $60.00 for the car, and spent another $130.00 fixing it up over the next several months. That was 1967.

My first car was a 1962 Chevy, 6 cyl, 2 door sedan (the cheap model). I bought it from a friend's dad in 1967 for $250.00 And gas could be got for 24.9¢ a gallon from 'no name' stations. Standard (BP Amaco) was iirc 32.9¢ for 'regular'. (this was in Chicago)

And for what its worth, Bus Fare was still only 25¢ and Transfers were free.
