GREAT Mand M graphics and story! LOL
I am out of chocolate and strawberries..but I can make brownies..I guess that will get me through the day.
I am grieving over Tony Snow’s death today..I turned in very late here to see the news..What a good man and uplifter he was..and a FReeper, too.
I have a hard time crying( a curse) but the tears started as soon as I read the news.
Me too, Meg....it hurt me very bad. What a guy he was...he absolutely never gave up, God Love Him!
That looks so good...sure wish I had a piece of that pecan pie, yorkie!
Why do we wait for Thanksgiving to make it? (Same with mincemeat pie.) I could eat them both often.
Happy Saturday, Yorkie.
As you can see today is a hit and miss day.
Marissa has already been swimming and had lunch. She is ready for the pool again but she has to wait until later in the afternoon. I need a shady spot. ; )
Happy Saturday, Luv.
Like all weekends (and every day lately), I am only here for a few replies and then have to disappear again.
We are having a great weekend. I don’t have any M & M’s but I have a big bar Hershey with almonds. Guess that will be my comfort food for today.
It would be easier to make them now when we don’t have so much Thanksgiving cooking to do.
My DIL made one of those Kentucky Derby Pies for our 4th of July cookout (they’re like pecan pies and I don’t know what the difference is). Hers tasted like it might have some chocolate in it...I’ll ask her sometimes.
The worst fires are in Northern California. We are in no danger of the fire but the smoke is affecting the entire state. It is causing lots of breathing problems. Really bad for people with asthma and other lung problems. They are being warned to stay indoors.
I should have taken a picture of the sun last evening. It was red from the smoke and haze.
Happy Saturday, Rus.
The Hershey with Almonds is my favorite! And I am completely out.
Good afternoon, Kitty Mittens. I still don’t have the Welcome Graphic posted.
I’m really slacking off today.
Son is here and we have been discussing vacation plans. Also what to do about Marissa’s pool. The leak is really a slow leak but we also need to drain it and try to level the ground under it. We cannot put it in the back yard because of our large dogs. When it is a hot as it has been, they would probably tear a hold in the side trying to get to the water. BTW .... they do have a filled wading pool. They love it but I know they would want to be where ever Marissa is swimming.
Hope you are having a great Saturday.
JC - Kentucky Derby pie is almost identical to pecan pie, but chocolate chips are added. (Some cooks use walnuts - but pecans are the best, IMHO.)
Kentucky Derby Pie
Ingredients:
1 cup Sugar
1 cup Light corn syrup
4 Eggs
1/2 cup butter — melted
1 cup Chopped pecans or walnuts
1 cup Chocolate chips
1 teaspoon Vanilla
2 tablespoons Bourbon (opt.)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Combine sugar, corn syrup and eggs in mixing bowl. Beat at low speed until well blended. Stir in remaining ingredients and pour into a 9” unbaked pie shell. Bake 45-50 minutes or until set.
