Simon must be a closet patriot! Either that or he realizes he can't criticize the song without sounding anti-American. Might be what he meant by "clever song choice". He's demonstrated a consistent distaste/confusion over Americana-flavored performances.

I don’t agree with you at all that Kristy chose this song to appeal to red states. I am glad she sung that song, I needed that after the last couple of weeks of the cr*p that we have been hearing from Hussein Obama’s so called pastor.
