TOP 9 FINALISTS WILL PERFORM DOLLY PARTON SONGS TUESDAY, APRIL 1, ON FOX

First they dregg out two weeks of THE BEATLES, now this?! Look, I'll admit Dolly is most likely one of the greatest song writers in her genre, but of the three people in the audience that might know her songs that night it won't bode well at all for AI?

I'm sure she'll be a fine mentor to the kids, but don't make them sing songs they or the majority of the audience probably have never heard of in their entire lives.

I predict major boring suckage.

For me, this season is down to Brooke and David Cook. Funny, the two best kids on the show are considered to be underdogs.

Exactly, and I am pulling and voting as hard as I can for both Brooke and David Cook.

They especially had the hubby in deep, dark shadows and far, far away from the stage. Not close to the front and center like the other families.

That's because he scares small children...

Most adults too.

Thanks for your comment on my comments. :) No, I’m not the person who found the voice coach website, but I see someone else helped us out with that. I remember when I looked on that website before, I agreed with most of her comments but not all. But then, back in the day when I was taking voice lessons myself, I found that some coaches worked for me but others didn’t. Everyone’s physicality that produces his or her voice is a little different, so you have to look around for a coach that knows how to work with someone who has a natural voice like yours. (Sorry, I’m rambling here! But I’m glad you really listen to the performances. I do think that adds to one’s enjoyment of the show!)

Hey jonny, wow new thread already? I’m gone for one week and a new thread. Just shows this is the place to be. :) We were in Atlanta and then on to Gulf Shores for spring break. The beach was absolutely beautiful. Now I’m going to read through the thread while the household is quiet. I HAVE ALOT of catching up to do. ;)

I didn’t care for M. JOhns Queen performance either. I mean it was alright, but if any one was trying to sound just like the original it was him. And let’s be honest, no one can do the original justice.

That was crazy. I think he may have won me over finally..........

I’ve liked him from the beginning. He is one of my favorites. Him and Brooke.

Well I seldom post in this thread since I see the show after you all have watched it. LOL. But I follow it faithfully.

Anyway, finally being out west is paying off and I’m going to the taping tomorrow. :-)

So if I get any fun scoop I’ll come report back...even though it’ll still be after the show! Ha! Hopefully I can find someting interesting that will be a repayment of thanks for the spoiling you all do each week!

FYI:

Claudette Yamin, mother of singer Elliott Yamin, died last night. She was 65.

She had been hospitalized during the weekend at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital. Her cause of death was not released.

Elliott Yamin, 29, became a local celebrity during his 2006 run on the TV show “American Idol,” where he placed third. During the competition, his mother, Claudette, became known to “Idol”-watchers and Richmonders for her fiery spirit.

Last year, Claudette Yamin moved briefly to Los Angeles, but returned to the Richmond area in February.

“I went to see if I could rebuild my health,” she said in a February interview with the Richmond Times-Dispatch. (A broken hip had never fully mended.)

A message posted last night on Elliott Yamin’s Web site by his good friend Brandon Crowe said, “The world lost a beautiful soul. I can’t go into any details at this time except to say that she went peacefully.”

Crowe’s message on etrainstation.com said the family has asked for privacy and that in lieu of sending flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Central Virginia chapter. (Elliott Yamin has Type 1 diabetes).

Besides Elliott, Claudette Yamin is survived by her younger son, Scott Yamin, who is in pharmacy school at Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C., and her daughter, Jodi Queen, who lives in San Diego.

I’ll be going to the funeral and other family related events tomorrow.

Burying one’s parents is one of the hardest things that people have to experience in life. I had to do it back at the end of 2004 and it sucked.

It sure is. My mom passed away this past New Year's Eve and it still hurts every day.

Condolences to your family.

I don’t know how it was for you but it was certainly a huge step forward in adulthood for me and I was in my later 30’s at the time. We had been fairly estranged for some time but in the end you are letting go of part of your identity.

Sorry for your loss as well....
