Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Oh, joy! ;o)
Prayers up for Jr.!
Yeah, especially when you consider that we could do a weekend and probably two shows in New York for about the same amount of money.
Eastern, kind of. Alcoa / Maryville area, not too far from Knoxville. Really pretty country, really nice folks.
In what area of Brazil is your fellow church member working to build the trade school? Paul’s girlfriend’s family is originally from Minas Gerais.
Well, I don't know what the Show-Me contingent would think, but that's not all ~that~ far from us.
Just a thought...
Sao Paulo
O fio está morto.
But what about the Grand Canyon?
Sigh...I still want to do that. Just trying to figure out times and monies...
Well, I think you should go... it sounds like fun :~)
In other news... I’m seriesly cleaning out my computer, and trying to resist the temptation to just delete everything I don’t recognize.
This computer has really been remarkable. It’s been running almost continuously since Windows 98 was new. Several upgrades later and more storage space added, and it’s still a darn good computer. But it’s been starting to get cludgy and I’ve been cleaning house.
I’ve been calculating vacation hours, when we’ll have time, etc. I think I’m going to have to take two days in April to go see my brother get out of boot camp (he’s in MO, can’t miss that) so not sure what that does to my puny allotment.
I gave up trying to clean/fix mine and took it to the repair place.
They’re deleting anything that hasn’t been used in 2 years, upgrading the memory and upgrading the hard drive from 60GB to 160GB. Should have it back any day now.
I’m okay on time this year. Especially since I’m done traveling for alumni board stuff (except when we go back for our own reunion years and this isn’t one).
And I’ve managed to schedule our two family trips this year around holidays, so that also saves time.
And, of course, I’m twice your age...
That could be fun, too, if it was doable!
Well...we’ll see. I’m reading through the list of who’s teaching/performing this year. Very cool...mando and guitar both.
I am sooooo rusty, though. :-\
Well, I have learned the hard way before to be a little careful about what I delete. But sometimes I get a little over-zealous. :~)
I wish I hadn’t deleted a lot of older documents wayyy back when. Mainly I did one system restore that I thought was an overwrite, but actually put the system back to factory default. Lost any and all e-mail or writing or what-have-you that I had before about 2000. :-\
Now I’m better about backing up, but I have stuff tucked away in odd places. Part of what has me fired up about guitar stuff is that this weekend I came across a cache of old e-mail messages from a computer I had back then. Most of them are junk, of course, but there were a lot that reminded me of a lot of the interests and contacts I all but dropped after Mom was sick and I lost my job and that whole rough year.
I think it’s time to move on...or back. Or something. ;-)
Oh, OK. We have a foster child through Christian Children’s Fund who is from Belo Horizonte.
Well, I decided to be un-sentimental about old email. Most of it is meaningless frap, and I wasn’t going to read through all of it to find the one or two messages that aren’t meaningless frap.
My Outlook file was taking up 1.7 Gigs. And it was a biggie that was showing up as fragmented and unfixable when I did that. So I went in and deleted everything more than a year old, and all messages that had big attachments, and cut it down some, but it’s still 1.4. Is there some big file of autoarchived stuff sitting out on my computer somewhere that could be deleted?
As for other files... I went through a few of my picture folders and deleted some, but I could do more of that. Those are on my storage disk though, and there’s plenty of room on that. My trouble has been finding what I’m looking for in thousands of pictures of horses.
Pinging you to the Outlook question above too... I think this is one of your peeves :~)
