Sigh. We’d hoped to have had the bird on already, but more issues with the Weber to attend to...

I was going to put a bird on today, but my “company” decided not to show up. So the bird is waiting. Tomorrow, if I dare, I’ll get some cranberry sauce. :o])

How rude of them to stand you up like that. Their loss, I guess.

That’s too bad. Ours is now underway, finally. As it gets dark outside.

It IS their loss! I’m a good cook!

I slather the bird with a layer of mayonnaise, turn it breast-side down, and slow cook it for 6-10 hours, depending on it’s size.

When it comes out of the oven, the meat falls off the bones, and because it’s upside down, the white meat is as moist as the dark meat.

:o] Now you know my secret!

I’m one of those people who really doesn’t need a reason to cook a turkey, since it’s second in line behind steak. Pork roast and chicken fight for third, though!

Since it’s usually only me who eats it, I freeze a lot, so I have turkey for several weeks.

I keep thinking I want one of those turkey fryers, but I’m afraid of fires. So I’ll just continue to slow cook them, and enjoy them myself! (Like the Little Red Hen!)

Tiny Christmas

“Where do the bugs spend Christmas, Dad?
Where do they go when it’s cold?
What do they give each other, Daddy?”
Then she sat, and she waited to be told.

So I sat down beside her and held her hand,
And I told her the Truth about Things.
That all of the good bugs have a party,
Where they wait for what Santa Claus brings.

All the fireflies get fresh batteries,
That will last them until the next year,
The butterflies all get new fancy designs,
They so like to be stylish, My Dear!

The ants will get pants that have pockets,
They must carry so much around,
They can pack a few nibbles to munch on,
While they’re working so hard through the year!

The nice bees will each get a compass,
To help them as they fly about,
And they all get the tiniest radio,
That’s to give one another a shout!

For when a bee finds some flowers,
She doesn’t just keep them herself,
She calls on her friends, and they help her,
To put honey jars up on the shelf!

So what they are doing in Winter,
Or when it’s too cold or too wet?
They all sit around writing letters,
And they send them to Santa! You bet!

Up at the North Pole there’s a section,
For the notes that are tiny and faint,
But that’s where the bugs’ tiny letters,
Get the message across to a Saint!

Then Santa makes sure that they get things,
With the help of each reindeer’s hoof,
Every stop that he makes for a chimney,
They sprinkle out dust on the roof!

And that dust settles down where the bugs are,
And then magically finds its way,
To the right kind of insect that needs it,
And it fills the bug’s stocking that day!

In the Spring, when you see a bright butterfly,
Or a bee zooming off on its task,
Just remember the good get rewarded,
But it’s also important to ask!

Guess I should have pinged a few more people to the previous post.

Anyway, Merry Christmas!

It’s OK, Bob. When you ping one of us, the rest of us read it, just as if it were meant for us alone.

Merry Christmas!

We've been using an electric. They're more limited in size, but that shouldn't be a problem for you.

They get hot, but not unreasonably so, and there's no flame to worry about. You might like it.

The big question is what to do with all the peanut oil afterwards. (Your truck isn't a diesel, by any chance?)

Sounds like you got some nice gifts. Hubbie got me a adjustable arm to hold my text books. No more spinning around to read from the book laid out on the chair behind me then spinning back to the computer to type the answer.

This and the desk lamp is going to make next year so much easier

Sorta what I figured, but I've heard rumors that there are folks who don't lasciviously read every post on the Undead Thread, and I didn't want to make any unwarranted assumptions.

No, my truck is combustion, but I have a friend with a diesel. ;o]

I’ll check into the electric fryers in January or February. Maybe I can afford one, then. :o])

All I need now is an exterior “A” Drive, and an “arm” to hold pages up where I can read them easier, (attached to the monitor) as I transcribe. (I do a lot of that, since having been made the unofficial historian of the family...)

How was your Christmas Day? Did you go out to eat?

"Merry Christmas to you and NicknamedSue and all the little Nicknames"

Thank you!

But formerly Nicknamed Teen1 and Teen2 are almost completely grown into their noses now, and are nearly on the verge of doing some Nicknominations of their own!
