Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Snow.
Hope you’ve got bread, milk, and eggs. :)
Morning Win-mag. The Bushnell Banner .22 3X-9X has a knob on the magnification ring, to make it easier to adjust the magnification. The ring moves counter clockwise to raise the magnification. When it is set at 3X the bolt hits the knob, by setting it at 4X (or higher), the bolt clears the knob. I picked up one of these scopes from the local Bushnell factory outlet; there is usually a good selection of all the Bushnell products in new, refurbrished or demo/sample condition. I like a low mounted scope, helps minimize bifocal blur. I opted for a .22 scope since the paralex is set 50 yds.
When I had the 4-12 AO scope (also a busnell banner) on the rifle, it needed a medium height ring for objective lense to clear the rear sight. I leave the iron sights on the scoped rifles (if they have them), you just never know when you’ll need them. The 4-12 is now on the Ruger bull-barrel 10-22. We’ll see how that set up works with the new (to me) scope on it.
Morning Corin - sorry to hear about Nana and her broken ankle. Is it going to be put in a cast? Not a pleasant prospect. Prayers up.
Good luck with Luke’s project, have him check out ‘Acoma’ (sky-city), for an interesting pueblo.
Moring OT - saw that and just checked.
Bread - check
Eggs - check
Milk - whoops
We’ll wait a bit to go to the store, we want to be there when the rest of the town is. :-)
Our Thanksgiving festivities are continuing. Last nite the Virginia wing of the family came up to the inlaws for a visit. They're all Yankees fans and Big'ol wore his Red Sox Championship shirt. So we stuck to safer topics like politics. The New England contingent is departing this morning. Today the friends from Charleston, S.C. are stopping thru on their way back home from visiting with their family. So we have a lunch date with them. After that we're on our way back to the hospital to visit the new baby and mum.
And somewhere along the line we need to do Christmas decs - this won't be a big deal because I'm on strike this year. And I also need to break a couple more of my FMC's fingers. She's been in that interrogation room since Wednesday and the sooner I can move her out of that scene the better.
They put her ankle in a splint yesterday and gave her some pretty strong pain drugs. She was out Wednesday with wife’s younger sister. I s’pose something could have happened then.
Thanks for the pueblo tip.
We watched "Christmas with the Kranks" the other night. It looked appealing.
Yesterday when I was out de-leafing the front yard (for the third time in as many days), I was thinking "a nice wreath on the door is really all we need"...sigh...
Well, these bulbs won't plant themselves (dang inferior grade bulbs).
later
heh heh... sucks tuh be you...
prayers fer Nana...
Nice set up, osage...
got a couple blades sharpened yesterday... I’ll “stone” a few more tuhday...
mulchin’ leaves on the agenda too...
When I saw that movie, I thought of you, Corin. ;o)
The book on which the movie is based, "Skipping Christmas", is much better. I got that book in audio format from the library! Y'all could enjoy listening to it going to and from work!
Soooo....does Gypsy have frosty paws this morning?
Guess the holiday’s over and I should do some cleaning up around here.
Heh, she sure did! We headed to the north part of theshire. It was snowing gently, traffic was reasonalbly sane, and walk quite enjoyable. Gypsy is now taking her post walk nap.
Mornin’. Been up for a bit, but I’m just finally sitting down with some coffee.
Plan for today: transcribe a bunch of my typewritten stuff and do a bit more writing so I can knock this NaNo thing out of the part, go to the bookstore in search of police procedural stuff, buy cat food so Halvah doesn’t eat me, and clean.
Well so much for cleaning. :)
I’m in thesunroom re-potting houseplants.
We went visiting yesterday, went up to see my great-grandfather. He’s a great old guy and we haven’t visited him since I moved here. He collects and repairs old clocks, he had just dozens of clocks in his house and he gave us one.
Now, what was my story about?
What kind of clock? Pics?
Can’t say as we blame you for potting and planting instead of cleaning. Good Show.
Picked up a pair of snow scraper/brushes; we’re down to one and we want one each vehicle and one in the house. Also picked up a pair of the red Ace Hardware flashlights, again one for each vehicle. Nice light for the price, surprised they still had them. The red vested guy said they periodically put out a dozen or so.
ps Folks are still driving crazy out there, especially in the parking lots. Relax folks, there is plenty of stuff out there to buy.
What’s called a kitchen clock. About a foot tall, wood case, old fashioned. Yeah we’ll have to get some pics once we’ve got a spot.
Getting low on potting soil....will have to go shopping soon.
How special to have something from your great-grandfather!
