We were fortunate at Sears because not a whole lot of people had gotten there yet, and we were able to park within 150' of the door! SirKit didn't like the boots that were $35, and ended up getting a NICE pair of Timberland Steel Toe boot for 25% off. He liked them so much, he wore them home; just cut the tags off after I'd paid for them, and put his sneaks in the boot box. While he was doing that, I bought a couple of shirts for myself. After that, we hit Lowe's, which opened at 6, arriving just after opening, and again, there weren't a lot of folks. He had seen a 4' fiberglass step ladder he liked so we got that, and a couple of pre-lit Christmas trees in urns that I'm gonna put by the front walk. We tried Staples, but learned from a friend we saw outside that they were out of the 4G flash drive he wanted. So we headed over to Ace Hardware, which opened at 7. Again, it wasn't that crowded, and he got a new level, a small hand saw, and I got a pretty metallic red flashlight so I can keep one in my van. We were back home by 8:15, and by 8:45 I was sound asleep! Got up in time to take Joseph to Wally World. He was thinking it was gonna be REAL busy today.
Heh. This is the vegetarian son. I can only assume it was a ‘mixed’ crowd for dinner, or they’d have been having Tofurkey or some such. It sounded as though it wasn’t a large bird, so it may not have taken too long to thaw.
Those are such CUTE blankets!! I love that yellow one; the design is great! We got several little blankets like that when our kids were born. I’ve packed them away for their own children.
Thanks for the book tips! Writing 'em down...I can always use a few more pattern books! I really only have one right now - how sad is that? It's this one, which has a lot of nice stuff, but a good bit of it is intimidating to me. And the ripple afghan I've made twice is just from on-line...though really, so long as you have the basic formula down, I guess a pattern isn't really needed for single crochet type ripples.
Another suggestion for granny squares is to make sets of coasters to give as gifts!
Glad to hear the SirKit’s boots fit so well he wore ‘em out of the store. Didn’t hear much on the radio about the traffic jams etc, just one fellow being led away in handcuffs (shoplifter?).
The Amtrack stopped at the station while we walked by with gypsy. The station platform was packed. Hadn’t seen that in a while. The train even had double deck cars.
I made it back! Miss Cat didn’t start complaining until I was about 20 minutes from home.
Glad you had a safe trip home, especially being able to avoid the zoo of travel on Sunday!

I try to buy two or three pattern books a year... just enough to feed the addiction.

I'm having a hard time picturing that setup. Something seems eccentric if a ring will clear only in a certain location.
If you're happy with the setup, you might want to grind away a bit of the top of the bolt handle that would interfere with the scope. That way you avoid smacking the scope with the bolt handle at an inopportune moment.
Tomorrow's gun pron may be a bit shorter than usual. Three trips to doctors for my mom and aunt, Thanksgiving, an extra day at work, and a car wreck (actually more of a "fender-scraper" except for the tires) have cut into my weapons "quality time".
Still, I've had a ton of things to be grateful for this week. On a minor note, my youngest (???!!!?) nephew just turned 21, and he completed the Michigan paperwork to take possession of my unfired Glock 19. He'll apply for a Georgia CCW after he establishes a permanent address off the Georgia Tech campus. They would honor a Michigan CCW, but the paperwork would take longer than the six weeks or so before he makes his move.
I might take him shopping for a Mossberg 500 before he goes. That way, I can unload some of my surplus Mossie accessories that I've accumulated since the last reconfiguration.

Off in a few to plant bulbs. That’s our must do project this a.m. afore rehearsals start for the day. This is it. We have our first actual audience Wednesday [shudder].
In other newz. Jr. was asleep when we got home last night. I’m goin’ up in a little bit to hold a mirror under his nose. Just in case.
Nana woke up Thanksgiving morning with her foot all black and blue, but with no pain. They x-rayed it and didn’t see anything. So we brought her over for dinner. That night she was in too much pain to sleep. Mrs. took her to the ER yesterday where they did a more thorough exam. She has a fractured ankle. We have no idea how that happened since she’s using the wheelchair pretty exclusively.
Luke has a project on American Indians due Monday. He’s supposed to choose a tribe and build a traditional pueblo, longhouse or teepee. He wants to build all three and compare them and then connect them together.
