Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Well...I’m going to R-U-N-N-O-F-T for a bit and find dinner....
And if you haven’t seen that, Ramius, you *must*. Must.
Do not seek the traysure.
We have it if you haven’t seen it Ramius... the Rosebears bought it for us! :~)
Well, isn’t this place a geographical oddity! Two weeks from anywhere!
We gots fixings for White Russians now. :)
Had dinner. Opted not to try the stew.
Heh...cool.
First sip... hmmm, pretty good, rather smooth and creamy. I think I could get used to these. :)
It probably is, but that isn't what I thought would start the fire... it's all the frap and boxes in his truck :~)
Ack! I shoulda’ know’d!!!
This particular Marine seems to be a member of an engineer unit, since there's a lot of high-explosive toys displayed beneath his rifle. A grunt would carry a couple of extra loaded ammo boxes for a SAW, or a couple of belts of ammo
The larger version of the photo (got a red X the last time) shows what looks like a non-standard revolver to the right of his helmet. There's also a black Gerber multitool to the right of the 40mm grenades, and what might be a Hobbit Hole knife to the right of the M-16 magazines.
Standard issue! Wouldn't that be something if it was one of ours.
They’re just dumber than a box of hammers!
A friend’s son took a blacksmithing class at Olde Sturbridge Village. He enjoyed it immensely, and she was able to find a small anvil for his use at the classes. He got into the whole mettalurgy thing, welding, etc, and now has decided to attend a school in Tulsa to learn pipe fitting, welding, etc, when he graduates from high school.
I've stopped snarking about Howie on theblog. If you Google "Hurricane Dean" my blog shows up on the first page. I'm getting about 1500 hits a day from it, so I'm only posting serious updates.
It's a monster of a storm.

McKidd Finds Last Legion
Former Rome star Kevin McKidd, who appears in the upcoming film The Last Legion, said that the movie takes a new look at the legend of King Arthur. The Scottish actor plays Wulfila opposite Colin Firth as Aurelius, Ben Kingsley as Merlin, Aishwarya Rai as Mira and John Hannah as Nestor.
"It's a movie that takes quite a bit of license with the origins of the King Arthur legend and Excalibur and Merlin and that fable," McKidd said in an interview while promoting his upcoming NBC time-travel series Journeyman. "We're directly linked to the final legion that were lost. There was a famous legion that was supposedly lost without a trace and were kind of left in England when Rome withdrew from their occupation of England."
McKidd shot the movie in various locations around Europe a couple of years ago. "We shot that in North Africa and Slovakia," he said. He added that he had forgotten about the movie until he saw it being advertised a couple of weeks ago. "I went to see Ratatouille the other weekend and saw a poster for it, and that's the first I've known about its release date," he said.
McKidd added: "It's kind of an imaginative romp through Europe, but it's a lot of fun, a lot of action, and it's kind of a fantasy tale that tries to link those two stories." The Last Legion opens Aug. 17.
This fall, McKidd will star in Journeyman, which tells the story of a San Francisco journalist who finds himself unstuck in time, traveling back and forth across the decades to right wrongs. (NBC is owned by NBC Universal, which also owns SCIFI.COM.) Ian Spelling

It'sa triple Hubba hubba if'n you're fond of Ben Kingsley. I *love* the historical fiction approach to Arthur over all the fairy-dairy-hocus-pocus-Merlin-magic lore. I really enjoyed Jack Whyte's novels for that reason (the racy bits and poor characterization aside).
Good Morning ALL: Excellent picture, a different photo than the usual ‘junk on the bunk’. re: the pistol handle, flare gun? That does look like a HH issue knife all right.
G’nad: radar showed you getting a bit of rain last night, was enough to coax Gunner out of the pond?
All’s quiet in our part of theshire, it was cool enough to venture further than Gypsy’s usual ‘hot weather’ loop walk. She appreciates the A/C though. Gots to harvest another crop of peppers, heat hasn’t affected their output.
