The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Heh. I’ve been wondering about that. Seems there’s all kind of demand for what is something of a lost art.

But its not an avocation yet. Just a wild hare.

Good evening!

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

(guess the quote?)

Well, I’m back.

Power came back around 6:30. Cable a few hours after that.

I love that movie...

Been awhile since I watched it. Hm...may be a good thing to do on Sunday afternoon. We’re s’posed to get rain, too.

Heh...speaking of Docs...Netflix has a lot of the first season of the new Doctor Who available to watch online, so I’ve started watching them.

They’re pretty entertaining, if strange. I’m not sure what I’ll think of the new new Doctor...when does he show up?

Hmm... is electricity good for anything other than cable?

Refrigerator, I guess.

Glad you got power back sooner than expected!

He shows up at the end of the second season.

I’m cat-trapped watching a Cagney movie.

Well...I like the first one. So long as I don't try to make too direct a correlation with the older shows, anyhow. Because I like him, I'm wondering how I'll feel about his replacement.

I’m cat-trapped watching a Cagney movie.

Which one?

Captains of the Clouds

My nephew likes Dr. Who so I put all the new episodes on DVD's for him. Thought I'd give him a taste of the old Doctor and put the Key of Time series on DVD for him.

Un-cattrapped now....going for more bourbon.

Well, follow that ‘hare’ should you so be inclined.

Crafts like that a fine introduction to the wonderful of barter.

Yucca quivers, turkey feather fletching, staves, rivercane, possible bags, antler tip powder measures, quilled sheaths, leather goods of all sorts....
