Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
LOL!! The hurricane will arrive just in time for Clare to go back to school! One of the schools in which Joseph is interested is right outside of Orlando, and he was worried about hurricanes there. I told him that they very rarely hit Orlando, for some reason, so he’d be fine.
Don’t the boys have that pool? You need to jump in a time or two yourself, today!
Yep...they’re in it right now!
I do jump in now and then as well...but by around 5pm even the water in the pool is hot.
Usually you're right, mostly because Orlando is about 60 miles from the coasts. In 2004, however, it wasd hit 3 or 4 times, a couple came not too far away in 2005 also, as I recall. Right now it is in the middle 90's, feels like 104.
Hot here but it’s supposed to cool off tomorrow night.
It gets grazed, from time to time, true, but doesn’t get nearly the same damage as the coastal towns.
I thought you were a fan since Jr. played etc.
Hugh smile and bugged out eyes as well. He was impressed.
I sorta follow the Redskins, but not that closely. My dad back in the 70s was a big Miami fan.
These days I mainly pay attention to collge football.
Not as impressed as we are for the people like him who keep doing a dangerous job to protect us from our enemies, foreign. As far as enemies, domestic, that's up to us. It's just another way to support him in his job.
If you have a spare knife, I'll get his mailing address and send it along to you.
It's a CRKT "Voodoo". Now discontinued. It's got the spring-assist open like the one you discussed above, which, I have decided, I ~really~ like. Not technically a switchblade, but every bit as good. :-)
I sure do. It sounds like time is short, so if you can get his address to me today, I'll mail it tomorrow.
Thanks, winmag! I’ll see if I can get in touch with his Mom this evening!
Technically, it's an assisted opening knife, and perfectly legal in all 50 states. Under federal law, a switchblade must have a button to release the blade. AO's are da bomb because they're sturdier, one-third the cost, and just as fast as a switchblade.
I have to amend that earlier statement a bit. Gov Granholm (RAT, MI) declared AO's to be switchblades, and an automatic felony if convicted in Michigan (tasers and OC spray stronger than 2% are also felonies). Attorney General Cox (R, MI) advised her not to contradict federal statutes. So the AO in my pocket is legal, for now.
I recently replaced my Kershaw Typhoon with the Kershaw Blur 1670BRNSG2.
We've given away the original 1670 (when on sale) for "special occasions". It has a black anodized frame, and a tanto blade. The non-stick panels are really non-stick, and in fact, downright abrasive. I carried one for a day, and almost wore a hole in my pocket.
The brown handles are classy, and the inserts are more like vinyl, and are non-skid without being abrasive. The big change (and big bump in price) comes from the SGPS steel. It's a super-hard core of powdered metal with a Rc of 62. It has stainless steel laminated to both sides to protect it. You see from the picture that there's a noticeable joint line and difference in appearance between the two metals.
It's also takes a sharp edge that is genuinely terrifying. All in a nice, non-threatening package.
Interesting. I don’t think I’ve seen one of those blades yet.
Evenin’ folkses... :-)

Here's other knives in the 1670 series. We've given away about a half-dozen of the bottom blade. Not shown is the "rescue" model, which looks like the red one, but with a round, blunted tip.
It's a vey solid knife, with an authoritative "snap" when opening it.
Nice. I like. I like the AO so much I may have to get a couple more.
It really is kinda silly that switchblades are illegal. Yeesh... it’s not the opener that makes a knife dangerous, fercryinoutloud. It’s the sharp edge and the pointy part, yah congressional dimwits.
