It's a CRKT "Voodoo". Now discontinued. It's got the spring-assist open like the one you discussed above, which, I have decided, I ~really~ like. Not technically a switchblade, but every bit as good. :-)
Technically, it's an assisted opening knife, and perfectly legal in all 50 states. Under federal law, a switchblade must have a button to release the blade. AO's are da bomb because they're sturdier, one-third the cost, and just as fast as a switchblade.
I have to amend that earlier statement a bit. Gov Granholm (RAT, MI) declared AO's to be switchblades, and an automatic felony if convicted in Michigan (tasers and OC spray stronger than 2% are also felonies). Attorney General Cox (R, MI) advised her not to contradict federal statutes. So the AO in my pocket is legal, for now.
I recently replaced my Kershaw Typhoon with the Kershaw Blur 1670BRNSG2.
We've given away the original 1670 (when on sale) for "special occasions". It has a black anodized frame, and a tanto blade. The non-stick panels are really non-stick, and in fact, downright abrasive. I carried one for a day, and almost wore a hole in my pocket.
The brown handles are classy, and the inserts are more like vinyl, and are non-skid without being abrasive. The big change (and big bump in price) comes from the SGPS steel. It's a super-hard core of powdered metal with a Rc of 62. It has stainless steel laminated to both sides to protect it. You see from the picture that there's a noticeable joint line and difference in appearance between the two metals.
It's also takes a sharp edge that is genuinely terrifying. All in a nice, non-threatening package.
