This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Ain't it purty?...NOT!!
Aw... look at that. Well, it’s doin’ it’s job, and that’s the most important thing. :~)
Gosh —that’s a big cast :-(
That reminds me of the cast they put on my younger daughter’s hand when she broke her pinky. It went down her arm like yours does.
The cat is back, “starving”. She’s had the kittens. My husband is saying we will never find them at dark and that she has them some place warm and safe. That doesn’t explain why he’s following her then’)
I dislocated my pinky trying to ice skate once. It didn’t hurt at all either until I saw it . Then it hurt:’)
She probably has them somewhere close. Tell your hubby to fix her a nice safe bed in the garage and she might bring them to him :)
She has one. It kind of bothers me that she doesn’t seem in a hurry to leave though. She even cozied up in the house awhile. Maybe she’s looking for a place to move.
That’s odd - I don’t know what to think of that. The only kittens I’ve been around in years were my feral cat’s and she moved them several times. The first litter to here and the second litter from a crate I put out for her to under the house to the cat house. Maybe someone will chime in who knows more about cats habits.
If you are able to pick her up you can look around her nipples and tell if they are nursing or not.
Good morning:)
I’m back from walking with my friend. We are walking the bike trail in Bixby as the trails around here are probably to wet and sloppy to be using. Drinking some coffee to get myself fortified to tackle another room today:) This evening I have a ball game to go to and watch Blake play.
Frog, I’m sorry about your finger...the cast looks rather cumbersome, hoping everything heals properly so you don’t have to have surgery.

Good morning! I am blowing off my dentist appointment.
It just wasn’t happening.
I didn’t know you had a dentist appointment...I’d blow it off too, unless I was hurting:)
Becky
It was just a cleaning, and I need that, but not today. I just didn’t have it together.
I realized, as I’m in the tub, twenty minutes before I’m supposed to be there, that not only was I not going to make it on time, I’m not even sure who our dental insurance is with now. It’s through ecurbh’s work and I rarely pay attention to that stuff. :~|
Oh well, now I just need to get my report done that’s due today, I can’t blow that off too. :~)
We had Belle’s hips x-rayed - she shows mild hip dysplasia. I guess we will give her to my son (she will be spayed) and get another puppy ~ sigh.
She was probably hurting when she bolted for the truck.
It's o.k. for her, she'll be happy as a lark as a family pet, and with a mild case as long as she's not pushed to the limit she won't be in any discomfort that a low dose of NSAID (rimadyl or similar) won't relieve. I know it's frustrating for YOU!
Be sure to talk to the breeder, you may be able to get something back on her, and at a minimum the breeder needs to know that this cropped up.
We're having Ruby X-rayed after she turns 2 in August, and we'll decide whether to spay her after that. Of course I'm nervous - she sure doesn't display any symptoms but I'll feel better when that hurdle is crossed.
I had almost the same accident years ago, except my horse fell through a jump (triple combination - cleared the first, misstrided, knocked down the second, panicked completely and fell through the third. He was not the sharpest knife in the drawer.) Broke my pinky in 3 places and tore all the tendons. Had almost the same cast you did (except the other way around). They had to surgically repair it, put 2 stainless steel screws in my hand.
The good news is that, aside from the fact that the finger is ugly (it has a permanent crook in it but the scar is no longer visible), it's 100 percent functional. I can sew, type, and play the piano.
If they want to surgically repair the tendon, I would say go for it. It really wasn't a big deal (and I say that as somebody who gets spectacularly sick from general anesthesia. It was still worth it.)
I agree. Avoid that woman like the plague. She sounds like bad news to me and I wouldn’t do business with her. The right buyer WILL come along.
When I went to see the orthopedic guy yesterday I was really hoping that he would just decide to go ahead and do the surgery first, rather than have me wear this cast for 6 weeks and THEN find out that I need surgery and have to have a healing period after that, but such was not the case. He just put a better cast on it and said come back in a week. :-/
Did you have to wear a cast or splint after your surgery? How long did it take before you could really use it again?
I was in the cast for THREE DAYS, then started aggressive physical therapy and went into an inflatable cast and sling. It was sore, but I was using it and then some. I called my PT nurse "The Butcher of Prague" but she did get me almost 100 percent function back, so I can't complain.
I'm starting to get a little arthritis, not in the damaged joint itself but in the knuckle, which is a bit overstressed because of the scar tissue in the 2nd joint. I probably need to go back for either PT or for revision of the scar tissue - this is 20 years out from the injury, because my almost 20 year old daughter wasn't born yet.
