This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

Well, I didn't get a picture of them on the trail because I didn't see this until Monday morning, but I did take some pictures of them this morning, along with pics of the other ones I made from the tighter-weave rope, just so you can see the difference. I'm still not so sure I don't like the lighter ones better, but that may just be because I've gotten used to riding with them over the last several weeks. I'll post the pics when I get to work. Gotta head that way now.
Dang! I better be careful then coz I use it to lift myself up into the truck too. Yours ought to be covered by the warranty if it's a new truck. Did you ever get any step rails installed? They help a lot too.

I like the drawer-type dishwashers too, ‘specially if there’s just one or 2 people.

I thought it turned out pretty good, seeing as how that was probably the only 2 seconds she stood still out of the whole time you were in the creek. ;o)

Both ways came out good.
I noticed at the feed store that they had the metal clamps to close the end of the loop too, like they use on lead ropes. I thought heck, even ~I~ could do that, since I don’t know how to splice.
I’d want the heavier clip like you have on your lighter set, to be able to have it double as a lead rope/tie in a pinch.
She was in a GO mood all day. She led the 1st half and then the others took turns. She couldn’t gait as fast as some of the others and she was out of shape, but she wouldn’t let them go off and leave her. She would break out in a canter to stay on their butts. She’s only been ridden 3 hrs. one time since last fall.
The only thing about those little snaps is that they don't swivel and I've discovered after using them for a while that if you don't get the reins perfectly straight from one end to the other before you snap them to the bit rings it makes the rein want to have a twist or kink in it. I've also had them to unsnap themselves if they get twisted around on the bit rings. I've actually thought about taking them off and replacing them with the scissor snaps like the other set. But everybody has their own preferences.
Both reins work pretty well as a lead rope or tie. I just unsnap it from the bit, throw one end through the fork of a tree and then snap both ends back to the halter bridle ring. If I don't have a tree fork handy anywhere I just snap one end and tie with the other. The lighter, thinner rope works better for that. It seems to bite on itself better and the knot doesn't slip loose as easily. The thin set is 9ft long and that's a little short for a long-necked horse to reach down and drink, I have to bend over with them, but it works perfect when just riding along. The new set is about 10 feet long and works great for drinking but has a loop of slack that you have to flip over your hands when riding. So each set has it's advantages and disadvantages. :-/
Thanks... I’ll keep all that in mind if I decide to make some for myself. I have some rope reins, but they’re a real stiff rope and I’d like to make some out of that nice nautical line.
Anyway, we're trying to get her other house ready to sell, and she has popcorn type ceilings. If you need to paint them they ARE a pain, but the other day when I went in to get ceiling paint, the salesman at Lowe's showed me these rollers made out of a spongy material that has slits every 1/4 of an inch or so. The slits allow the roller to get around every little bump. They worked great.
Some of those drawer type dishwashers are made by FisherPaykel, and they are pricey, but I think some of the more mainstream companies are making them now.
FWIW, I had to replace my dishwasher and ended up buying a regular sized one with the silverware basket in the door, and it's a pain and the silverware doesn't dry well. Also, the basket falls open and the silverware dumps out if you're not careful. Wish I'd bought one with the basket sitting in the bottom drawer instead.
I couldn't think of a name for it and my husband suggested, "Attention K-Nine Shoppers!"
