This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Hey, are we still doing lunch today?
Never mind, you called right about the time I hit the enter key.
Yeah, you’re as bad as me.
You know I told you that I had deleted the AgDirect ad and figured that this guy must have saved it or something? Well apparently I just thought I deleted it because it was still out there this morning, so I’ve deleted it for real now.
I think I’ve just decided that I’m going to call the guy back and tell him I’ve decided to keep him for a while.
I’m so wishy-washy it’s pathetic!
~chuckling~
I won’t say a word. :~)
Did anyone see the Great Curlin in Dubai today? Won the Jaguar Cup at Nad El Sheba as a prep for the Dubai World Cup. Ran the mile and a quarter in 2:00.60.

Scrol down to the 28th, then click in race 5. He won in a romp.
Well, I hope he shows back up for your sake, but if not, I wouldn’t think the worst necessarily. You might have just been a fling. ;~) He may have beds all over town and you were just a rest stop. Cartman disappeared for two and a half months once. Then one day he was waiting on the porch. Who knows where he was.
Congratulations on the job, Becky. :-) I’m happy for you.
Our brood is pretty good, all things considering :~)
Kittens are due for shots this month. Need to make an appt.
I did the same thing...my old computer was whirring and taking forever to boot (about 5-6 yrs. old) and it was so heavy so I went to Best Buy and bought the Dell Inspiron 1420...I LOVE IT...it has a built in camera and microphone so with Skype ( a free download) I can talk and see my grandkids up in cold Ohio....it’s great.
Is that what you bought?
Good morning.
Very nice weather here this morning. They are forecasting in the 70’s by Sun. Then snow on Mon.
Farrier coming today.
Becky
Ah - well that’s better weather then isn’t it?
Our sunny streak is about to end... we’ll have rain by the end of the day... and I have to go get hay :~\
Wow, that sounds cool! I'll bet it cuts down on the long-distance bill too.
It’s raining off and on here today but the weekend is supposed to be sunny and near 70, and we’ve got snow chances coming on Tuesday, so it looks like we’re about a day behind you as far as the weather goes.
I’m assuming you haven’t heard anything from the guy who looked at Harley or you would’ve told us by now. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed.
He’s suppose to call this weekend sometime and let me know what he decided. He was going to look at another horse I think on Sat.
Did you call your buyer and tell him not to come?
Becky
Well, I’m back from the feed store with hay and bedding.
Now to go clean stalls!
Hi,
re: fescue -kinda rang a bell with me - I remember hearing twenty years ago that it was dangerous for mares carrying foals to be on fescue, but I’ve been away from the horse community/information for a long time and am trying to relearn everything. Things/opinions can sure change in twenty years.
Yes, it can make them abort, make the bag thick so the foal can’t get out, or keep the milk from coming down.
I am fighting a losing battle. She gets upset when the other horses leave and she can’t see them and hubby goes and lets her out anyway. I will either have to quit work and stay home and watch her or give up. He keeps saying there’s no fescue there anyway, but it is about to start growing. I feel like I have no control or say so over my own horse because I cannot be there all day!!!!
Frustrated!
