FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

Hey - very cool! Musta been a cute little bugger! When you said they yelled that the momma was behind you I thought maybe you were going to right that she attacked ya! And did you forget your camera? :~)

I thought the same thing when they yelled at me that she was behind me:)

No, I didn’t have a camera with me. Thought about it tho:)

It was cool, but I am a bit worried that he may have been injured and you just couldn’t see it. He wasn’t moving around to much.

Becky

I’ll pick it up on Monday and use his truck to take it directly to the barn. My car is a two door coupe. :-)

Hey, it’s boring here in Texas. We’ll take our excitement wherever we can get it.

Ah, the surprise tack trunk! That's always fun!

I got one once, and it had a Steuben saddle in it!

It didn't fit, but it still was fun! (I sold it, kept the saddle cover to put on my Courbette. THAT confuses people.)

HA! :-) Hey, I got a Kieffer a couple of weeks ago for $400.00 brand new! Used once. No marks, not even any stretch in the billets. (I talked her down from 500.00.... should I feel guilty?) I'm interested to see what's in the trunk. My dad says that there are lots of leather straps... I tried to ask more, but he got all flustered. Probably just odds and ends, sounds like there might be some leg wraps in there, and something made out of wool. A cooler? Who knows.

Don't feel guilty - she didn't HAVE to sell it to you! And if she wasn't using it, that's 400 bucks she didn't have before.

Sounds like a leather halter and lead shank, maybe a bridle (that would be nice!) I would say that kids accumulate those first, then martingales, extra stirrup leathers, draw reins, and maybe a surcingle or longing cavesson (that would be REALLY nice!)

I’m hoping that there’s a bridle in there. Or a halter at least. I’m guessing that there are definitely extra stirrup leathers in there. I’m taking a drive up tomorrow to see what’s what. I’ll haul it down to the barn on Monday. Dad n’ I are meeting in Boston to see the Harry Potter movie, and then I’ll hitch a ride home with him instead of taking the train. We’ll take the box down to the barn then, and I’ll make him haul it up the stairs (I’m evil like that)

Bodie has a new home. The people came this afternoon, we saddled up all the horses and went for a trail ride. We were not gone for long. Came back and the older girl rode. We delivered him this evening. About an hour’s drive, near Lake Erie. The lady who they board with has a very nice place. Large stalls, outdoor arena and a large pasture. The girl just loves him and they will make a fine fit. She is going to ride him English and that would be perfect for him.

They were very nice people and he has a great home. I am happy that they decided to take him.

Terrific! Good to find the right fit for him, since it was evidently not with you.

I would have loved to see pictures of that little squirrel :) I’ve been hoping maybe he was just cold and I’m really glad momma rescued him.

We are getting a very very nice summer rain here today, and it has been raining for quit some time. This should really help my pasture:)

Well we’re getting rain too... and you’re right, it should help the pasture :~)

But someone is going to have to call Tiff and tell her we don’t ride in the rain. :~\

It's not raining here :) Getting ready to go grocery shopping and then put up pickles. Have a great day.

Good Afternoon.

Raining here also, which makes my cable go out. It finally came back on a few mins ago. Kids went to a horse show, but I don't think I want to stand around in the rain.

I received an email from the girl who bought Bodie. She is going to keep me updated.

Rain makes your cable go out? Yikes... I’m glad that doesn’t happen here, it’d be out all winter :~)
