This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
How cute:’)

Yes this is a daunting task...I have stuff that I’ve accumulated over 17 yrs. that I didn’t even know I had. I can’t wait until it’s over.
I got a email yesterday from the boss at Countrywide telling me that the media is making a mountain out of a molehill and that he would be getting me my employment package in the mail this week. Countrywide is the biggest home lender in the nation, so I guess I’ll be ok....I really don’t want to be in the mortgage field but it’s all I’ve done for 30 years and at 61 I don’t know what else to do. The housing market sucks so I don’t intend on making too much money. Oh well. if worse comes to worse I’ll quit work and collect SS and live like a pauper and ride Waylon everyday. I’ll be 62 in Nov. so I could do it.
I have to put our stuff in storage for a month then have them move it to SC. This move is going to be much more expensive than I planned on. The fact that the house is gone is huge, though, so I guess I’ll just have to deal with it. I really can’t believe how lucky I was to sell it.
A new neighbor of mine in SC was to move into her new house in Sept also, and she emailed me last week and said she is going to have to sell the Aiken house because her house in Fla is not selling after a yr. Not even any lookers.
The housing market is dismalin Fla. and I think that is what is pulling down the market in general. Too many flippers out there who were going to make a million buck and now can’t unload their homes.
Will post again once I get to the cabin. I miss reading about all thats going on in the Saddle Club.........
Interesting theory. Since your problem is not thrush, I don’t know that Koppertox is the preferred treatment. I have to disagree tho that you aren’t getting it under the shoe. That stuff is thin as water, I would think some of it would go under.
I was think about Tiff, Bob, and all of the horses the other day when I was out riding. Has Bob done anything else with Kat?
Becky
I haven’t talked to Bob in a few weeks... Not sure if he’s done anything... I should call.
Beautiful day here. Nice and sunny.
Have a great weekend!

Ohhhhhh. I haven’t kept up very well with that whole fiasco. I can’t believe I missed it when it was happening.
You have a huge, mean hurricane heading your way and from the computer models, looks like your neck of the woods is going to take a direct hit. Are you getting ready?
:) “The one thing Ive learned about internet boards is that the guy that owns the site rules.”
That’s the truth.
Yeah. The horses are inland and plywood is going up. I know it sounds nuts but I usually like the excitement and preparing of hurricane season. This year its been a pain in the butt though.
This sounds like it’s going to be a really bad one.
I understand about the excitement of hurricane season. I’m the same way about spring tornado season.
Where are you going to go?
Did you move the horses, or are they OK where they were?
How about you? Are you staying or heading out somewhere?
I hope so. They are staying too.
Well batter down your hatches! And get in touch with us as soon as you can after the storm, we’ll be worrying and wondering!
You want pics?:’) Seriously, it’s too soon to tell. It could go into Mexico and we get rain. It could go to Houston and we wouldn’t feel anything.
Certainly take pics of whatever comes... I’d like to see it.
I just had an interesting little experience that I thought you would enjoy, since you like squirrels:)
I’m in town today, and I took Susie over to the park for a walk. They must have had a lot of wind last night in town because there are tree branches down all over. Anyway, there is somedown in the park, and Susie found a baby squirrel laying on the ground. It was still alive but seemed in shock. I picked it up, and it just laid in my hand for a few minutes, I saw no other squirrels around. AFter a few minutes it squealed and I dropped it:\...didn’t want it to bite me.
It sort of toddled over to a tree and climbed it a few feet. I came back to the building to lock Susie up, I found a shoe box and went back to get it. I have a friend who raises orphan animals. It didn’t seem to be able to climb very high up the tree but just kept going around and around it. I finally came up on it from behind, grabbed it’s tail. It went to chattering and squealing, I dropped it in the box and put the lid on.
Some people just coming out of the burger place, hollered that the momma was behind me. Sure enough, there was big squirrel there so I put the baby back on the ground, the big squirrel ran up and tree then turned and watched. The baby once again went to the tree but stayed at the bottom. It didn’t seem to move very well. Momma came down, sniffed it all over, rolled it over a few times, then picked it up in her mouth, carried it over to another tree and climbed up.
I can see a squirrels nest up there, so I don’t know if it got blown down last night in the storm, or just fell out. It was pretty cool tho, watching the momma carry it off and up that tree. It wasn’t all that big, but big enough I wouldn’t have thought she could do that, especially up as far as the nest was.
Becky
STay safe.
Becky
A *treasure chest* :) Who knows what might be in it. When are you going to pick it up?
